Dell has the ADS USB Instant DVD+DV (model USBAV-703) for $211.95 after a $50 MIR (plus tax). Free ground shipping too. Pretty good deal, considering it's usually priced in the $240-250 range.

Other than the fact that this is an external card, what is the advantage over the Winfast 2000 deluxe card so often mentioned here?

This unit is dedicated to converting analog video (and audio, of course) signals from a video camera, vcr, etc. and converting them to MPEG1 or MPEG2, which can then be run straight from your hard drive (yuck) or burned onto DVDs or VCDs. While the Winfast might be able to input analog signals and convert them (among other things), it won't do the job as well as this device. The Instant DVDADS device especially suited for connecting to high-quality video signals, like Hi-8 camcorders, and turning out pretty decent digital video. It seems to be one of the best of such devices in that $150-250 range. Like anything else, those willing to spend thousands more would get even better results.
