This card is the same as the Orinoco/Agere Gold card. It has fantastic range and has a connector for an external antenna if you want to go war driving or want to super-extend the range of your wireless connection. A really great price also!

Gold because of the 128-bit WEP Silver can't do that.

BTW if anyone else was wondering the pic of of a TrubMobile 1100, but I am confident it is a 1150 because if you search the dell site you get 2 matches for the 1150 with pics. The pic is EXACTLY the same as the one from dell so some poor guy probbably stole a pic off Dell and chose the wrong one. Ordered 4 of them (on 2 orders, so I could use $6 and $5 coupons, apparently they won't let you use the same coupon again).

This is a great place to get things...I've never had a problem with them and shipping is always very reasonable. They also have some online coupons out there...make sure you search for them before you buy!!! Or look at this Thread for a $5 off coupon to use.

Goto the dell support site put in ANY service code (just find a new pc/lappy you should be able to find the code) put it in, dont need to give any personal info. Search downloads for "TrueMobile 1150" you should find everything including the firmware update. You can hack the Orinoco dirvers as well but well thats complex.

I bought a TrueMobile from Dell just a few weeks ago. The 8.10 firmware was on the CD that came along. That firmware update ONLY worked in OSes before WinXP where you have to install the drivers from the manufacturer (not those built into the OS).

ai42: Did you actually see the 8.10 firmware on the Dell support site? I could only find the 6.16 firmware for the PC Card version. I think the firmware for the mini-pci version is more updated on that site.

Just got mine, what an awesome card! The range is about ten times better than my D-link POS (hey, it was cheap!)
This is a great buy if you can still get one.
