Google'd some reviews. NewEgg reviews had a lot of failure rates with this router probably why this one is refurbished... other sites (CNET) gave it 6/10 reviews, saying the range is not that great.

Edit: If you read some of the woot comments. This site has it for the same price almost.

Overall. I'd probably pass based on the reviews for this router. Some of the comments do say this router can be flashed to third party firmware DD-WRT? But I don't know if that will do any good.

I was going to buy this and flash DD-WRT to make a bridge for my network. But there is a very high reported incident of hardware failures, i.e green light = dead.

I will pass on this.

If you want a cheap Wireless-N router that's DD-WRT compatible, Compusa has the Linksys WRT150n refurbished for the same price ($39.99 + shipping). I bought one a couple weeks ago from there, flashed it right away with v24 final and haven't had any problems with it.

Not so sure about Netgear products. I see a lot of refurbished items on websites from them. They seem to have a pretty high failure rate from what i can tell.

Just keep in mind if you go this route that you have to flash the router with the mini version of DD-WRT first, then you can flash the standard version on top of that. (I don't know why, it just won't accept the standard version straight from the Linksys firmware)

But like I said, I haven't had any problems with it since I got it so I'm happy enough with the purchase. It'll be nice once they get DD-WRT working on some of the higher end Linksys Wireless-N routers. It sort of works on some of them, but on the dual-band ones it disables the 5.8ghz radio at the moment. Once they can get that working, there should be some really nice Wireless-N equipment out there (because the standard Linksys firmware sucks bad on those)

The stock firmware has a filesize limit for firmware images that it will allow you to update to.
