I tried the doom3/quake4 trick of setting the resolution, AR and r_mode manually in the ini, but it seems to ignore it. However, I noticed that using a standard resolution (1024x768), and setting the AR to 16:10 on my stretched monitor, it looks non-stretched.

er I run it at 1920x1080 Widescreen and it looks amazing, you must be missing a setting. Some of them you have to add yourself. Make sure seta_r mode -1.

I havn't completed the demo, but I am very impressed with it. I guess what impresses me most is that I feel like I am on the space ship. I honestly can say I feel that I am in his position and am thinking "That is !#@%$ up!" of course, I don't cussing, but I would probably cuss in his situation, so it seems all the more real. That is the thing... Cussing, when done tastefully do I dare say, really adds realism.

The space ship is really cool... Going through two doors, yet one leading into another roon depending on the side you enter is just genius... Gravity walks and so on... The minature world... The game is just like OMG, these aliens are WEIRD!

This breathes fresh new life into the FPS genre and appears to be well done thus far. But who knows, this could be like HL2, where everything is the same ole after the first hour.

Very impressed and very fun!

that's one crazy game - i like it! DM was pretty fun too, cause I would switch from upside-down to right-side-up and back when fighting people

just played the demo.
graphics are amazing. too much like doom3 though. story is kind of odd. has some interesting tricks with the anti-grav and the spirit walk.

didn't really do anything for me though gameplay-wise.

Agreed! I was loving the wall-changing effects, where the map rotates. Never seen that before. Everything was well executed. I'll gladly buy that one when it comes out!

This game is a bresh of fresh air, but I have to agree with all your statements. It's different, but I don't think it's awesome.

I also tried online out and I found it very confusing. Gave up after 2 minutes.

Just played through it, some unique gameplay, walking up walls and on that little ball thing, and I will keep an eye on the reviews and see if they can make a whole game out of this. One thing I didn't like was those things barfing on me. What's up with that.

Seemed cool enough, but would get boring fast I'd think. Some interesting gameplay elements like stated before, but nothing that new. Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

It's cool that they have encorporated a kind of death redemption method in the game. Prince of Persia was awesome with its "sands of time" that erased stupid gamer mistakes that all of us are victims of, and the way Ubisoft involved that was pretty solid. 2K games must have figured that a Native American spirit plane was just about as close as they could get without ripping off Prince of Persia.

The Turok-like character is really strange on an alien ship, but I guess there's a first for everything.....It is nice that the main character talks though. I was thinking the exact same thing when he said things like, "That was ****** up".

On the plus side, the puzzles are completely unlike anything else ever attempted. Blending a Psi-Ops free-roam character split with some HL2-like alien weapons, add in some contorted gravity and portals that put you on spheres in little boxes linked to other portals to crates which then link to rooms, and you have a completely original FOM (Frame of Mind). The 360 degree, all dimensional enemy positioning could also be very, very confusing but equally as fun and new.

With all things said, I think I'll get this when it comes out simply because I like it when game developers can give me something that bends my mind.

Good Demo, and yeah it did remind me of Doom3, as soon as I looked at the console. I totally dislike the multiplayer though, how weird can you get. The weapons also are a bit of a nuisance, but definately creative.

PS- I thought they did an excellent job by incorporating the ruthlessness factor in the game. Anyone remember the scene in the demo when those two kids are locked in that room? That scene got me.

Amazing demo , I was debating on getting Xbox360's or PCs version but after seeing how great it runs on my PC (and of course mouse + keyboard control) I went ahead and ordered PCs ver.

I hear 360's version is capped at 30fps anyhow

I just played through the demo. It was just over an hour of gameplay for me, which is pretty good for a demo these days. Lots of fun, and definitely a bit different than anything I've ever played before. Graphics were quite good, and frames never dropped below 30 on my X1900XT (1680x1050 4xAA/16xHQAF), and they were usually between 40-60.

The only complaint I have is that the tearing is awful, but I had to put up with it since triple buffering (even forced) just will not work with this game, and I didn't want Vsync to chop my frames in half sometimes. Really hope there's some way to fix that when the full game hits (though I kinda doubt it [/i]).

Looking past that one flaw though (and it isn't exactly a small one), I'll definitely have to pick up the full game. I really like the gravity direction change/wallwalking stuff. I imagine that'll be a blast in multiplayer

Hm.....worked for me. I'm able to run 6xQualityAAA,16xHQAF,max settings@1680x1050 just fine. Do you have Tray Tools?

Yeah, I tried forcing TB in Tray Tools (along with DXTweaker when that didn't work). No change in either case, frames dropped to 30 the instant the character looked up at the mirror in the beginning (was about 48-50 without Vsync).

What drivers are you using? I'm using the Cat6.6 betas, but I had the same problem with the 6.3's I was on before...

I think I may be a bit jaded or something, but I found this to be just more of the same. Granted, the gravity puzzles and walking are cool, as are the portals and narration, but the enemies and shooting(weapons) are pretty standard. The abduction scene was awesome though (music reminded my of Lost ~Mamas and Papas~). Guess the pretty narrow environments and un-awesome weapons got to me.

6.5Chuck. I had installed the normal 6.5 ones, then overwrote them with the 6.5 Chuck Patch. I'm also at 740/1700 though.

Whoever had the idea of having it play "Don't Fear The Reaper" during the alien abduction deserves some serious kudos. That was awesome.

Did anyone have trouble getting multiplay to work? Maybe it's my firewall/router but I couldn't find any servers. I made my own server and just walked through the maps and it's pretty weird.. makes for some strange DM games.

DM maps aern't that werid if you play them a couple times. There are some areas in the maps that are kind of dead however since there usually worthless areas to roam around.

I think the rotating map area thing is good for dm because it adds to dodging and awareness factor the player must exert. You usually don't have to look up to make sure someones not trying to camp rape you etc. I find it awesome jumping from the ceiling down behind someone and taking them out.

If your not the quake 2 type classic dm type games you probably won't like it. Most people I've played sucked pretty hard and gave up because it lol.

The SP was unique, very unlike alot of the games that are coming out these days. It felt very cool going upside-down/upside-left or wtv it also did a fantastic job in making you think you were being abducted by aliens. When first being taken into the mothership the scenery was gorgeous, the whole process of killing humans also made pretty fluid sense(as in the steps). It made me feel gross when first introduced to the alien slime the ship was made from. But after all of these things, it got old in like 45 minutes..........maybe it was just me, but after playing with all your new toys and abilities it felt rather repetitive. Im sure if you guys think back, towards the end of the demo you had already gotten in the swing of things, grasping how to kill enemies easily, mirror portals, spirit walk etc...making the game seem ALOT more dull then it was when beginning. I wasnt even the least bit shocked by anything anymore, and i fear that the final release wont have added that much more to what has already been presented. Sure, maybe a few more weapons, maybe a few more items, new enemies here and there but its the same gameplay in the samedrab enviroment after time. After playing 20 min of the demo i had every intention of the purchase but upon finishing i decided im going to hold off, maybe buy it when it hits the bargain bins. The developers really do deserve a hand of applause, because they obviously put much time into thinking up such a mess and took a change with it.

MP was less then satisfying as well, very laggy, it wasnt me either, it was everyone elses lag. Plus people mentioned that the fps drops tremedously when a portal opens up, which isnt really noticeable in the SP, but in MP when crap like that pops up all over the place+the lag it becomes very jittery. The upside down stuff was cool but confusing, i dont see the MP community being very large ever. Just my thoughts on the game, thought i would share.

-Oh and if anyone is wondering how it will perform on your system, mine runs it 50-60fps constant, maximum details 4xAA, 8xAF at 1280x1024. Drops to about 25 when portals open, maybe 20 if there are more than 1.
