Price cuts on a64 chips coming

I've heard that AMD will cut prices on 2/14 for A64 chips.

i ordered cpu last week, and then cancelled. anyone have any details on this rumor?

Havnt heard it, and it woudlnt affect me either way, having a s939 3200+, but it still would be nice to see, get more people on the AMD side of things. I myself didn't expect a price drop till the new batch of CPU's come out, but we'll find out next week I suppose.

Don't hold your breathe. I expect that sales will through online retailers will increase due to the nforce4 availability. Thus, they may start to run out and therefore increase prices. It may be a couple of weeks before those prices will trickle down to online retailers.

I read the price cut will be on Valentines Day 14Feb..It will be for all A64 chips, however not sure if it's for the FX series??

They have no reason to reduce prices on the FX series.
They're raking it in over Intel, and still have the FX57 up their sleve for later this year.

Mosre likely then not the FX class processor will maintain the same price it always had, from what we can see AMD more often then not raises prices on the FX line rather then drop it.

So the A64 $2800+ which is already $1 less than a Sempron 3100+ will be even cheaper ?

Who would be buying the 3100+ if it stayed above a 2800+ ?

The Sepmprons must also ge getting a price drop

Only source reporting these alleged AMD price cuts was the Inquirer; and they're not exactly a bastion of credible journalism. Guess we'll see in a few days.

yeah there definitely should be some major price drops for A64's especially the 3500+... Usually about a week or 2 after I purchase computer parts for the most money posssible you see some pretty significant price drops shortly there after...

My guess is that a 3500 will go for the current price of a 3200, 3200 for a 3000 price.
