Good deal, but I think Newegg might have the upper hand, if only by a couple bucks.

$224 Shipped from Newegg

Anyone have more info about the company / the monitor? I've been looking for a 17" with 16ms response and DVI for awhile now, I might bite... just wish I had a bit more info about it before I do.

Agreed. Other than the ratings and user reviews on Neweggs site, I couldn't find any reviews online. This is a killer deal but I would like to know some AT'ers experiences with the monitor.

Although I'm quite furious that they dropped the price this much since I bought it the week of Thanksgiving, I'll say that this is definately a quality monitor.

I had some POS 15" SVA LCD monitor for over a year now so I know crappy quality. This is definately worth it at this price. It was worth it even at the price I bought it for. $339 - $50 rebate = $289

See above linky.

You forgot to add in the shipping. After adding in the $10 for shipping, it is STILL $224 shipped, as the original poster stated.

Anyone have any experience with Princeton's rebates? Any chance this rebate will come? If so, I'm in!

Considering that the UltraSharp has a 25ms response rate, I would have to say that the 714 would be better for gaming.

Not sure about other uses though....

I'm just about to jump onto this deal. Anyone have negative feedback regarding this monitor?

Be warned that this is a "16.2 million" color LCD, which means it can only display 256k actual colors.

The LCD uses 6-bit for each color per pixel, which is only capable of displaying 18-bit, or 256k unique colors. It uses interpolation to simulate "16.2" million colors. LCDs that are capable of full 24-bit (16.7 million) colors uses 8-bits for each color.

The human eye can only distingush about 30k different colors, so I am not worried.

Newegg bumped their price up to $217 post rebate, so I did some hunting. PcConnection.com has it for $299 with no tax and free shipping to Cal and same $75 rebate. Perhaps an even better deal is a refurb starting at $244, same rebate, but I didn't check more details.

Thanks for the informative post!

I was wondering how they came up with that 16.2 million number.

For what it's worth, I saw one of these displays at a friend's business last week. There seemed to be a lot of black shadow next to text on the screen. He said he had a hard time using it for long periods of time without getting a headache. FYI.

Princeton sells 3 lines of LCD screens, value, better, and Senergy is their top of the line product with a full 3 years parts and labor including the back light and no fuss about pixel count either. My guess is that your friend has something wrong with setup, hardware, etc., because generally a LCD display is easier on the eyes than a crt. All the user reviews I read on different sites gave this monitor 5 stars, so my bet is that its excellent and the best real deal on a 17" with DVI yet.

FWIW, I just got this monitor from Buy.com yesterday. It came within 24 hours of me ordering using the 'budget' shipping option. I guess i lived really close to a distribution center which was in Carol Stream, IL for all you Chicagoans. As far as the monitor goes, I have it hooked up via DVI and it looks perfect. It's ultra bright, text is very sharp, and much easier on my eyes than my old 19in Dell CRT. I don't really know/care about 6 bit, 8 bits, whatever. Bottom line is that this is a very nice lcd for a good price AR.

Bumping this deal back on the front page in sympathy for the people excited about paying the same price for a non DVI bottom of the line LCD.

just got mine PRINCETON LCD19D, superb image, DVI connection, no dead pixel. got this from Newegg for $345 AR. was doubting this brand but now I'll add Princeton to my line of quality monitor.

but this monitor is 25ms, a little bit of ghosting when i play starcraft, but not that noticable.

I bought mine from PCconnection.com on 12/17, it shipped a few hours later from OH, and current delivery scheduled for 12/22 in Cal.

BTW no tax and no shipping, for me this was $15 cheaper than oldeggs.
