What you were probably looking at was Microsoft's "Clear Type" appearance feature - not a finction of the monitor...Originally posted by: Jinxt
For what it's worth, I saw one of these displays at a friend's business last week. There seemed to be a lot of black shadow next to text on the screen. He said he had a hard time using it for long periods of time without getting a headache. FYI.

Found it here for 299 before rebate and with free shipping. Looked around on the site and didn't see anything about a dead pixel return policy. Does anyone have any idea how amazon handles this?

The LCD uses 6-bit for each color per pixel, which is only capable of displaying 18-bit, or 256k unique colors. It uses interpolation to simulate "16.2" million colors. LCDs that are capable of full 24-bit (16.7 million) colors uses 8-bits for each color.
Info
Thanks for the informative post!
I was wondering how they came up with that 16.2 million number.

if the spec say 16.7 Million True color support...then it's 8bit
both this monitor and the envision are 6bit....
BTW, if this pro-series monitor from princeton having DVI is only 6bit, how do you think the envision would give you 8bit support?

When I went to check out on Amazon, it said that the estimated ship date for this item was January 4, 2005. Is that because it is on back order or because it sometimes takes up to 1 week to process the order?

This monitor is Sweeeeeet!
I see stuff I didn't know was there. TV is great on it. Easy on the eyes.
I ordered it from buy.com and paid shipping. The day after I ordered it shows up on their web site with FREE SHIPPING! Needless to say I was bummed. Maybe I should complain about that.
1st I hooked up the DVI to my ATI video card and nothing happened.
Then I went with the regular cable and it works fine.
What makes the DVI go?

I just placed an order for one at Amazon.com.
There's a problem however. The rebate coupon says "Rebate must be postmarked within 15 days of purchase date".
My monitor is not expected to arrive until Jan 10-12. These things are frequently delayed in my experience. Anyway, it's cutting it awfully close or perhaps making it exceed the 15 day deadline.
I am wondering if I should cancel the order.
