Just got mine today. Very nice and bright as well. No ghosting with Doom 3, no backlight issues as others mention. Its so darn bright I think I could use it pool-side.

I did get one dead pixel at no extra cost. The dead pixel is pretty much smack dead center of the screen but its no big deal at all. Funny thing is, Im on my wife's cpu right now and just noticed (after 2 years of owning it) that her View Sonic VA720 has a dead pixel @smack dead center too.

I'd buy again dead pixel and all!

I just got the monitor from Newegg. There are no dead pixels from what I can see right now. One huge negative thing is that the buttons suck monkey nuts. When you press them, it pushes the lcd display down and you can see the image warp a bit. The buttons don't even respond half the time, I think it's because they are just crappy. The picture quality is great. Sharp text and vibrant colors with a bright lcd. Compared to my Samsung Syncmaster 170N, this Synergy rocks.

One question to those that bought this monitor from Newegg. Did you guys get an invoice? My monitor shipped in the original Princeton box. Newegg did not slip the invoice into the box. On the rebate form it says "ALL forms which ARE NOT COMPLIANT will be REJECTED" and "Original or Copy of Store Receipt" are needed. Now I know you can go online and print a newegg invoice...but it would suck if after 2 months you find out that Princeton does not accept those. I emailed Newegg to get an answer but I'm worried they won't reply. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like Amazon is currently the cheapest place to get it, since it's $228.99 AR, shipped, AND they give you the $30 Amazon gift certificate. However, I'm a little concerned about whether it will come within 15 days, so to qualify for the rebate. The availability status as of right now reads, "Usually ships within 1 to 2 weeks." If it's going to take them 2 weeks to ship this, and another few days to get here, then we'll definitely go over the 15-day limit for the rebate. Hmmmm.... what to do, what to do...

I called amazon's customer service and they said call them back and they will credit the account if the monitor arrives after the postmakr deadline. So i went ahead and ordered the monitor last night.

REALLY??? That would be amazing! Did you select free shipping, which takes 5-9 business days to deliver? If you did, it would almost for certain be late and you would need to pick them up on that promise. Has anyone done that with Amazon and would they actually follow through? That would be my concern.

Well, I called Amazon myself this time and spoke to them about this. Apparently, they don't charge the credit card until the item ships, so THAT will be the purchase date. Since super-saver takes 5-9 business days to arrive, it will definitely make it in time for the 15-day deadline. And if ordered before 1/16/05, you will get that $30 Amazon gift certificate. And contrarary to Buy.com and Newegg.com, Amazon won't charge me sales tax (CA)!! This is becoming a VERY sweet deal! If anyone wants to make this deal any sweeter, you can apply for an Amazon.com credit card and they will give you a $30 credit! I've actually done this twice with the same name and they both went through.

Mine came yesterday and I'm very happy with it. Have been playing CS:S with no ghosting.

Colors in photos look fine (as do DVDs) - if you weren't sure before, head out and pick one of these up. They're great.

I STRONGLY AGREED!!! This Monitor is still great!
Monkey Nut Buttons I can live with. You pretty much play with them once then leave em alone. Its not like your playing with them every night

If Newegg ROCKS like every review says, they will reply. Post Back their response

Off topic but is the 1704FPV 8 bit or 6 bit? Trying to find the details on that...

I guess I worry too much, but I decided to call Princeton directly to see whether they look at the order date or the shipment date to determine whether the rebate meets the "15-day of purchase" deadline. Well, luckily, they have confirmed that they have instructed their rebate fulfillment center to look at the invoice date or the shipment date, since some of the retailers have them on backorder. With Amazon, they definitely don't charge the credit card until they ship it, so both the invoice date AND the shipment date would work just fine. Finally a peace of mind... If you want to find out for yourself, the number for Princeton Sales is 888-668-7655, option 1. Took me a LONG time to find that number.

Newegg hasn't responded to my invoice question above. I called Princeton and they had no clue about sending in the printed online invoice from Newegg. Then they gave me wheresmyrebate's phone number. After holding for 20 minutes, I asked the guy if the printed invoice from newegg's website was okay and he said yes. I guess that is considered a copy of the sales invoice so I'm satisfied.

I've received rebates using Newegg online invoices before without any problem. Should not be a problem considering that this rebate is limited to only a select few online retailers (Amazon, Newegg, Outpost, someone else and maybe another).

That is reassuring Kobb.

On a side note, I just received an email from Newegg. They sent me a PDF file of the invoice. It looks just like the type that they normally send out. It has some barcodes and what not...things the online one does not have.

My advice to anyone else that buys from Newegg and doesn't get an invoice: Email them and ask for an electronic invoice (PDF file) and send that in. I sent in the online one...let's hope it works.

I am so pleased. Via Amazon, I received my new monitor 27 hours after I placed the order--even though it was shipped free by Super Saver Shipping / UPS Ground.

Placed order Wednesday, 1/12 1pm CST

Received monitor Thursday, 1/13 4pm CST in downtown Chicago

Monitor arrived in the Princeton box, unsealed, with only an Amazon.com packing slip. No invoice enclosed. Screen looks good with analog signal. No dead pixels, no backlight leakage.

Knock on wood--this is almost too good to be true.

EDIT: Monitor was shipped from Amazon.com Fulfillment Services, 1850 Mercer Road, Lexington, KY.

Wow, that's pretty amazing! I believe the monitors are being shipped directly from Princeton factory, which is in NY (at least that's where the rebate goes to). Chicago is just a skip and a hop from NY. I suspect it'll take longer to get mine, since I live in CA. I just ordered one this morning. Definitely looking forward to receiving it!

Over the past month I've sent over 10 rebates for computer parts. Hopefully this princeton rebate will be my last...

Anyways, I just purchased it at 6 pm today via Amazon web site. The thing I'm worried about is that the rebate expires on 1/31 and I may not receive/be billed for the item until after.

The estimated shipping date is between January 29, 2005 - February 5, 2005 and the estimated delivery date is between February 2, 2005 - February 11, 2005 . If they're right, does that mean I can't redeem the rebate? Like if they ship it/charge me on February 5, 2005 and it arrives on February 11, 2005, will I still get my money back?

Maybe I'm better off cancelling if it doesn't ship by a certain date?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I know the answer to this question is obvious, but what about this monitor vs. the Sony StylePro SDM-S74 which also has a DVI input. The only thing is the Sony is $359 shipped. That almost $160 price difference.

Thanks for doing the detective work about the NewEgg invoice, I'm going to print mine and get everything sent in (certified mail, of course) tomorrow.

This display is great, no dead pixels, no ghosting in HL2 or CS:S. I'm very happy with it (especially for the price!).

I ordered the monitor at Amazon last Thursday. When I checked the status of when the item is expected to be shipped, they gave me a date that was about 8 days later. Well, by Friday, they said the package is getting ready to be shipped. By Saturday, it has already shipped. So the estimated date of shipment and arrival is basically all wrong. From my experience and from others posted on this thread, I am pretty confident that you will have no problems with the shipping date going over to next month. In fact, I'm pretty certain you will even RECEIVE the monitor way before the month ends (probably by end of this week or early next week).

You mean your initial ship date is 1/14/05, not 1/24, right? You might not get it today, since today is a national holiday (MLK). Mine is shipping out of Texas (I'm in CA), so I hope to get it by mid-week.

This is way cool... I found that Amazon.com just dropped the price on the monitor to $288.79 before the $75 rebate ($213.79 AR). However, they no longer have that $30 gc any more. Well, I called Amazon to ask for a pricematch, and they gave it to me! They just refunded me $15.20 to my credit card. Very sweet! So the bottom line price is now $213.79 - $30 gc = $183.79. Oh boy... it just keeps getting better and better!
