I wonder how much these prices will drop? Maybe I should wait but I don't think these are going to go much lower. I remember when these were $220.00 when they first came out.

I know AMD stopped taking orders on 939 chips a few months ago, so this is likely to clear out excess stock. I can't imagine it'll get much cheaper than $93 for a dual core A64 in the 939 variety.

Anyone who has one, know how well this handles VC-1/H.264 1080p ?
If not at stock, then overclocked?

Shoot. I just built my new rig with a single core 64-bit Athlon 3700+ (939). The thing isn't even 3 months old!
Will the X2 really be *that* much faster? I mostly play games on this rig....STALKER being one of them.

I'm currently running a 3200+ Venice and use it mostly for photoshop and imaging programs and some gaming. I've been reading that most software doesn't take advantage of the dual core. My question is, would the 4000+ San Diego going for $69.99 be a better upgrade for me. At some point I will upgrage to some multi core platform when it becomes compelling. For now I just want something to get me through a couple more years.

Photoshop does use dual cores. That is a major reason I chose to jump on this deal.

AMD really screwed up phasing out 939 so soon. There's a huge demand for these things.
