i'm thinking of getting this. But haven' t decided yet. I figured the new Performance PLus series will be out and mainstream and that just drives these prices down even more.

If anyone can find the Sidepanel with Window for this case I be sold!. I checked Newegg, they normally sell the case windows but they only have it for the server towers. And I'm not too good with a dremel.

I don't believe that Chieftech/Chenming/Antec ever made a panel for this particular case that has a window on it, to my knowledge...about the best you'd be able to do is either find a place online that has the performance 630II side panel, (has a fan cutout on the side) or getting it direct from antec's web store--Only caveat there is that it only comes in beige.

It appears that if you've a yen for a window, and you get the black or silver case, you're probably going to need a dremel and/or some paint for the job..for now at least.

I'm not necessarily sure this is a wonderful for a LAN rig, if nothing else than the fact that it's about 27-30 lbs. empty (according to web reviews I've read.) May or may not be a consideration for some.

Also, it seems that newegg is charging $15.00 shipping for the 630II...but for the other ones, shipping is free.

Still a solid decent case in any event.

My understanding is that Antec does the design and Chieftec does the manufacturing. Chieftec also sells the case (with slightly different faceplate, logo, etc.) under their own name as well as several other brandings (Chenming, Enermax, etc.).

I got the same case last week at pomona comp show, I paid 80 bux.... BUT: it is the aluminum version, it has a 420W P/S and it has a side blowhole...

Paying 53bux for a steel case without P/S, I personally wouldn't do that.

Nowadays it doesn't matter anymore whether a case is P4-compatible or not since Intel doesn't require the heatsink to be screwed into the MB tray anymore.

...as long as the P/S has ATX12V extension, of course.

You know, there used to be a time when most, if not all add-on cards were REALLY long.

If there weren't any card holders the PCB would bend due to its own weight...

Ahh, thanks. I'll give that a look.

Edit: that was based on the bigger 830 model. I'm like the size of the 630 better. Thanks anyways.

How do you do that!!! I want my case to look like that!!!

A handful of reinforced cutting wheels and a sanding cylinder to knock off the burrs and smooth out the edges. And a lot of patience. I did one blowhole, to figure out how to make curves with cutting wheels; one test logo on a throw-away case, to see how it'd turn out; and that one, the third thing I've used my Dremel for (aside from cutting up heatsinks for ramsinks), and my first mod.

If I didn't think DC Comics would murder me with licensing fees, I'd definitely offer to do logos for other people for a few bucks. So, instead, I'm just doing them for myself. I'll be doing a Batman Beyond logo on an Antec SLK1600, and when I can get other cases, I'm going to do a Superman (in all three primary colors, which will be tough to get the right lighting on), Spiderman (mask in the middle of a web, red and white lighting), whatever various logos catch my interest.
