No problem, just glad that this deal is helping out. I know how hard it is to find a decent PSU for a decent price

Sorry, I havent recieved mine yet, however I havent heard anyone complain about noise level, and it is easy to replace the fan with a Panaflo L1A which can be had for about 3$... I replaced my last PSU fan and I will replace this one as soon as I get the PSU

For generic ps, if you buy a lot directly from the manufacturer, you can ask them to printing whatever wattage rating on the label you like.
Why many people have bad experience from cheap generic ps, it's because a generic 250W is actually about 180W, 300W is actually about 230W, 400W is actually about 300W.

Its a new post so it "bumps" the thread back to the top of the board. People generally do it when they think the post is good and want others to notice it but don't really have anything to say.

the 8kha+ DOES NOT USE THE 3.3V line, so the 3.3 + 5 rating means dick...the 8KHA+ derives 3.3V from the 5V line, so get a PSU with a VERY VERY VERY strong 5V line for an 8KHA+, especially with a radeon 8500(power hungry)

Just a quick note; I replaced my (AMD-approved and reccomended for CPUs up to 2000+) PS with this one. All my rails are better (3.3V is still marginal, but that's probably due to my IWILL KK266-R motherboard), and my system stability has gone up a good deal; before, I couldn't up the FSB _at all_, and now I've been running stably at 150 MHz for several days. (My definition of stable includes a 24 hour burn-in with memtest86, another with Prime95, and yet another with 3DMark 2001, and I'm always running Seti@Home). I'd say that this PS was well worth my money, although I didn't appreciate the shipping costs...

Anyone else used this with an Epox 8KHA+?
If so, how did it work?
What other periphials were used?
I'm considering a new ps as well as an Epox. I'll be running a GeForce3, 1.4 T-Bird (most likely overclocked will have quality hs/f ), DVD, CDR-W, single hdd, minimum 3 case fans.
Hope to hear from someone who has similar setup on Epox as I heard they are picky about their power supplies.

I just got my Epox 8KHA+ refurb from Newegg, And I got this Powersupply a while back

Here's what I'm running:

Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1700Mhz (10x170fsb) 1.85v
2x 256MB Crucial DDR @ 3.1vDMM
1 Maxtor Diamond Plus 60 40GB 7200rpm
1 Maxtor DX710 60GB 7200rpm
1 Plexotr 24x12x40
1 Pioneer 16x DVD-Rom
1 NetGear 310 NIC
1 Promise ATA100 RAI
1 SB Live!
1 PNY GeForce 3 Ti 200 225core/500Mem (was 210/460 before I got the generic 400w powersupply)
1 Sunon 80mm 48CFM fan + 4 Panaflow 24CFM fan

Just to ensure the Generic PS can handle all that, did a harddrive to HD transfer of a 500MB avi while copying CD to CD with my Pioneer/Plextor and running Serious Sam 2 in a 800x600 windows in the background

amazingly, Serious Sam 2 runs pretty smooth (a few hiccups once in a while) CD succefully copied and the copied AVI file played just fine

I couldnt be happier

I am very very happy, that this PSU is working well for so many people. It kind of goes to show that, while it is nice to by name brand sometimes, there are quality generic alternatives.

As to the qualms about shipping:

1. I really dont think shipping is bad.. its not cheap, but not outrageous.
2. it looks like SavingXoom, send you a new PSU along with a free shipping label to return, if you recieve a DOA product. I may be wrong, but I dont think even newegg does that, and their shipping is not much cheaper on most things.

so really, I dont think shippin is a ripoff

Just to update:

PSU shipped out early this morning for me, hoping it will get here by friday
Got many confirmations from savingxoom. I have to say, SavingXoom has to be one of the best online retailers ive used yet...

Has anyone opened up this powersupply to see if it has POTS? pots are small screws inside the power supply that would allow you to raise and lower the 5v and 12v rails which would make your system more stable

WageSlave- I got in on this deal last time you posted it. Thanks! The 400W PS works perfectly with my k7s5a and AthlonXP 1600 running 2 cd drives, 2 hard drives, and a GF3 Ti200. And it's stable, I never shut the machine off.

Eating the Spartan green beans allowed me to afford a system like this.

Not to say that spending more money on a name brand is bad. You are paying for their reputation of quality. However, a lot of people have vouched for the quality of this 400W psu, so it would seem that this really isn't that bad of an idea.

what's the noise level on this?
I have a 300 watt ps now, and it's running my system just fine, except it is right next to my bed and it has a buzzing power supply.... it gives me a headache if I leave it on the whole night.

What can I do about this? Can someone advise? Can I just switch the fan? What should I use and how? Can someone point me somewhere, or dare I ask, explain to me what the heck I should be doing?

I thought my only way to cut down the noise was to buy a new power supply, but I read on this thread someone mentioned changing the fan with a Panaflo.... please please please elaborate for me. THanks!

I did open up my PS to check out the POTS, not a big deal for me

Unfortunately, there is NO POTS in this unit. No more voltage mod.
