Just pray Dell doesn't pull a "Spiegel" on you.

waht's a spiegel?

Store notorious from price mistakes, but instead of just cancelling your order, they do ship, but at FULL PRICE!

That's why I put it on my Ford Mastercard from the test drive deal. There's only about $50 on it. They can't charge me full price.

A "Spiegel" is when the company ships you the products you ordered at a previously agreed upon price (in this case $.08) and then turns around and charges you a different price.

A while back, there was a "price mistake" at Spiegel for some cashmere throws. On the website they were $2.19. Several people ordered them and received them only to find out they were actually charged $219.00 per throw instead.

I doubt Dell would make the same blunder...but after hearing those stories about Spiegel...I'm always leery of these "price mistakes".

It's funny how the same time happens everytime and people still are all like "Oh I hope mine goes through, what if it does, that would be so cool." And then it doesn't and then everyone is like "they didin't even give me a coupon" when really there is no reason. You all know damn well what is going to happen and that that was a price mistake, but you everytime you will do the same thing and be like "oh i hope mine goes through, dont order 1000000 because then you will have ruined my chances and why do you have to burst my unreasonable bubble?"

That is all. It's just funny b/c the EXACT same sequence of messages are posted EVERY time. The above is an attempt at comedy. Don't kill me.

No cancellation yet. I got in on the deal as soon as I saw it and choose 2nd day shipping. Just watching my email makes me a little worried everytime I get a new one but hopefully it won't come.

It's all gone now. No more $0.08 monitors.

Maybe they realized the error and fixed it or just plain OOS?!!

Just a word of legal advice. If you know that the other party made a mistake there is no contract. The law allows a party to avoid a contract where there is an obvious error and the other party <read anandtech bargain hounds> should as reasonable people know that the error exists. Just read the language of the above posts and you know that Dell made an error and that you know Dell made an error.

The n-vidia 4600 card fisasco at Best Buys did not fall into this catagory since the price was close enough to a reasonable introductory <bust the doors down sale> price that a prospective purchaser would not necessarly immediately jump on the deal because they know that the price is in error and hope to "slip through."

Besides, Dell did not offer to sell the monitors to you at the listed price. They only advertised the availability of monitors and agreed to allow you to make an offer to purchase the monitors. The excape hatch for erroneously posted prices is contained in their terms as well as in the common law.

They have to worry about <false> advertising in the situation where the erroneous price is not an unreasonable price given the market for like goods. Half the going market price can be reasonable. Less than 1 percent of the going market price is so unreasonable that not even an innocent new buyer would be mislead.

Besides they have corrected the errors and no one else can hope to benefit, if only in their dreams.
