apparantly priority has been given to geting the 4600's out on the shelves. there arent any reviews on 4400s (besides the reference card nvidia demoed last month) because the 4400s arent in circulation yet.

Since the 4400 is dramatically cheaper, I suggest you get that (or the 4200) and start overclocking (whenever the 4200 and 4400 hits the shelves). The 4600 (in my opinion) is a waste of money because of its high price vs the performance.

I agree. How anyone can justify buying the 4600 at this time is beyond me. It's really not that much faster, especially when you look at real world performace. Not that I wouldn't snap one up if I had unlimited funds, but who has unlimited funds? I say wait and go for a "slower" card if you plan on buying one.

not exactly true, what if you play 2x FSAA and still faster than the radeon 8500 and Ti500 out there???

Although i agree that it cost way too much, however, there will be always some hardcore hardware enthusiasts throw big bucks to get their hands on such item

At the Circuit City nearest to my house, they ONLY have the PNY 4400's. I found it kinda odd, because they didn't have a single 4600 in stock. Nobody else in town has the 4400's though. Weird.

Here is the link to the Ti4400 at circuitcity.

They have them in stock at all my local CC and no ti4600's. I am going to pick up one of the ti4400 because the performance gain isn't worth $100 to me.

My local CompUSA already has the 4600 and the 4400 (both with 128mb DDR). The difference is $100 ($399 for the 4600, $299 for the 4400) The 4600 is a Visiontek while the 4400 is a PNY.

Circuit City definitely has the PNY Ti 4400's in stock. They were available for direct shipping last Wednesday 3/6/02, and there were available in-store (at least in Dallas) the next day. I know cuz I had been visiting their website alot lately hoping to find something to spend my $180 store credit with (crappiest computer production selection ever!) and was surprised to find the 4400's listed.

You know, I thought the retail price of the GF4 Ti4600 was supposed to be $399, but I'm seeing >$400 at some of the online stores. Is this just a case of restricted supply price "gouging"?

Consider that some of those cards have extras. For example, the Gainward Ti4600 has VIVO. Also, the various software bundles are not really free, you know.
