Priceline Gas / Groceries deal killed

I know I may get flamed for this since it's not a new deal, but an update on an old one. Just wanted to tell those who have been doing the Priceline Gas / Groceries thing. There's a message on their website that they are killing the program!! Really sucks because I've been saving 15-20 cents a gallon on gas.

Yeah, I know off topic, but I can't let an oppotunity go by without bitchin' about Priceline. I HATE THEM !!!

Seems like they are a company in trouble too, someone posted earlier about their shares at something like $7 down from their $100 peak.
Also they are being probed by CT Attorney General after loads of complaints.....Go get 'em is what I say !!!

I wouldn't normally flame someone for not posting a hot deal in the hot deal section (well, may be I would), but if you had done a search, you would have found out that someone already posted a message about this about a half hour before you did. Try doing a search first, even if it is off topic and doesn't even belong here! "Flame off".

Excuse me Mr. Wangel, but if you had done some research yourself you would have noticed that the thread started by phoenixstar was posted at 10:29 a.m. Mine was posted at 10:28 a.m. So if anything phoenixstar should have done a search (but he was probably writing his while I was writing mine).

well i for one will miss the priceline groceries, i have saved easy half my money using it, it isnt the greatest, but overall saved me a ton of money, i wish they were still going though, but i am not surprised they are stopping this, they must be losing money from this

I had a problem w/getting my gas thru priceline, the station wouldn't honor it.
Priceline eventaully paid me back the money.

Gasoline Card for any further transactions at the grocery

2. You need do nothing. No later than Friday, October 20th,
we will automatically issue a credit to your credit card on
file at the WebHouse Club for the full amount of any groceries
or gasoline you have not picked up.

3. In about the next 72 hours, we will calculate how much
money we owe you.

4. We will send you an e-mail summarizing our
refund calculation.

5. Your credit will include extra money to cover our estimate
of the savings that you would have received at the store.
Your refund credit will also include payment for any unused
grocery tokens that you earned by accepting one of our partner

A very sad day indeed. I have/had over 30 gallons left on a gas card at more than a 30 cent/gallon savings. Something tells me, I'm not going to get comped for that. The last gas card I had, I bought a $10 GC to get 50 gallons of gas for 87 cents per gallon, and the station that I got the gas at was selling it for $1.679 at the time. I suppose I will give them until the 20th, per their e-mail, (I have already made an inquiry to satisfy credit card company requirements), and will then promptly refuse the last charge. *shrug* A very sad day.

They had the CEO on CNBC this morning asking, " So, where did all the money go?"

To wit;
Priceline's 40 percent plunge put an exclamation point on a year-long slide in the stock--a persistent decline that paused only briefly as the company trumpeted new products and big-name believers. The shares are down 90 percent from their 52-week high of $104.25--despite having received a vote of confidence in the form of a combined $240 million stock purchase by Allen, Malone and Alwaleed in the past two months.

Allen, Microsoft's billionaire co-founder who runs Vulcan Ventures, and Malone, head of Liberty Media, bought $190 million of Priceline stock less than two months ago. Alwaleed weighed in with a $50 million purchase earlier this month. The moves were widely hailed as a vote of confidence in the company and briefly buoyed the shares.

Now, that's gotta hurt. Do you think they'll get a refund?
