I picked up a set today also. I am thinking that they did label the memory correctly, but the mislabeled the price. Here is a PDF from Corsair:

http://www.corsair.com/corsair/products/specs/CM2X1024-6400PRO.pdf

The description from the PDF file said it is one 1 GB stick of DDR2 800MHz memorry. Best Buy listed it as a 2-pack. So I'm thinking I'll be getting two 1GB sticks of DDR2 800MHz memory from best buy. They say this stick is also matched in parts of "Twin2x" modules tested as a set in a dual channel DDR2 motherboard.

Do I make sense?

It also says in the description 2GB (pair of 1GB DIMM)
I'll be surprised if this works out for any of us.

The description for the item is correct and everything so I don't see why they wouldn't honor it. Isn't that false advertising? Basically we can't trust any of the prices on their site until we see the bill? That would seem like deceptive means of getting more traffic to their site using other search engines. If you look them up in froogle they show up.

Yeah, that would be pretty sketchy. I am still reading it as a 2 pack though, so maybe we will get 2 individually packaged memory sticks...

As for the vast majority of websites, this is BB website policy:

Errors on Our Site
Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is cancelled, Best Buy will issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge. Individual bank policies will dictate when this amount is credited to your account. If you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, you may return it in accordance with Best Buy's Return Policy.

So if they put their site everything at 1 penny generate about 10000 invoices they will just cancel it all. Wow.. gotta love BB.

What I don't understand is the fact that these are all sold out in most brick and mortar best buys. Obviously if one of us ordered a store pick up, we would have found out that it was only 1GB instead of 2. The fact that it is sold out in most stores leads me to believe that this might actually be a "best buy"

I can tell you from a lot of exerience, BB will be THE LAST store to honor something posted on their website if it's in error. The CEO even said "BB doesn't want our business", referring to "hot deal websites".

Great in that case I'll just forget about going to BB this year for BF since they won't honor any of them. Save me the trip to BB this year then.

I guarantee these are NOT "sold out". BB realized the error and this is their damage control. Mark my words....based on forum history, BB is suck.

If you check the order status online does it show if it has been canceled or is it just an email telling you that it's been canceled?

Thanks.

The plot thickens. I spoke with another Best Buy location just now. He says it is a 2GB kit, and a heck of a deal. Hmmmm. My online order still shows backordered, not canceled yet. Maybe they got a special deal Corsair offered on a limited number of these. I'll believe it when 2GB show up at my door.

I have not gotten a cancellation e-mail, got the "backordered" one though. What I think is likely to happen is that they'll procrastinate with shipping (though "backordered" e-mail says it'll ship in 1-2 weeks) for long enough to either the market price of that memory dropping down OR all of us canceling our orders. I wish I'd we wrong on this.

As far as BB not following through with some of their deals (even if the deal was a result of mistake of some kind): a year or so ago they had 512MB and 1GB SODIMMs for free and I collected a few (though some smart stores pulled them off the shelves and pretended they did not have them). [By no means do I want to say that BB is a generally good place to buy comp. stuff, but you may fish out a good deal from them every now and them ... a Cyberpower/DYNEX 800VA UPS with line interactive comes to mind as well]

Just barely got a new email from best buy:

"The item listed below is still not yet available to be shipped. We will notify you as soon as the item becomes available."

No mention of a cancellation..Yet.

Well, I have the original page (saying "2 modules for a total of 2GB") saved and printed ... Also, if you look carefully, your order probably says "moduleS" (mine does), i.e., more than one. So I plan to wait out the "estimated ship time" of 1-2 weeks and then give them a call to see what they are going to do about it. I have not checked if they charged my credit card yet.

Edit: checked, as of yet my credit card has not been charged...

Why does the description mention feature 2GB when the item itself is only one? I'm confused. Just checked my order status and it hasn't changed nor have they charged my credit card yet.

"Enhance your computer's multitasking ability with this memory module that feature 2GB of Xtreme Memory Speed (XMS). "

Because it is a 2 pack. I read it as you are getting 2 packages of 1GB memory.

I canceled my order and bought CORSAIR XMS2 2GB TWIN2X2048-6400 for $230 after a $50 rebate. It came with free shipping, so technically I paid $15 more, but at least I will actually get this order.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

You can apply the Digital Coupon toward the purchase of the memory module. The product is currently on backorder and is expected to ship in mid-November. You can reorder this product at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=product&id=1156606920435.

Digital Coupons are easily redeemed when you shop online. Simply enter the 17-digit code listed above during checkout. We apply them to your purchases, up to the total purchase amount. So, this whole deal was good for a $20 off coupon ($20 off anything? -- that would be awesome) good for about a month. Let's see if the coupon works on things other than overpriced memory ...
