I have an intel PERL 865 motherboard. I have 3 devices.
1) SATA WD HD
2) IDE IBM 60gig HD
3) Lito-On DVD/CD-RW
#1 is on the primary SATA port.
#2 is a Master on the Primary IDE port
#3 is a Master on the Secondary IDE port.
Here's the problem. THe IDE hard drive is stuck in PIO mode. When I went to BIOS, under "Drives", that hard drive is not detected. It only shows up in windows in PIO mode. I swapped the DVD/CD-RW with the hard drive -> so now the DVD is on Primary IDE while the IBM hard drive is on Secondary. With that swap, the hard drive gets detected fine, and DVD is missing in bios.
What gives? I'm at a loss as to what else to try other than to get a SATA optical drive. I also considered running both HD and DVD off the same ide cable, but I'd have to rearrange the devices so that the cable will reach.
