I did a multiplier OC on my Tbird and went to 1.4GHz on my 1.33GHz chip. I then ran the Prime95 torture test to check the stability of the OC. It ran for 1hr6min before it turned in a hardware fault/rounding error and halted. While the test was running, I had 4 instances of IE 6 running, Outlook 2K running, and all the other system tray stuff I normally have running up. Is this a true failure or is it ok all things considered?
The only cooling in the entire system is the Taisol hsf and psu fan. The chip baselines at 45C and was bouncing between 50 and 51C during the test. Next week I get my Antec SX830 case and it will have 1 front mounted intake and one rear mounted discharge fan installed so the temps SHOULD be lower. Now, should I keep the OC going in the meantime? I plan to definitely use it when I get the new case setup.
Tips? Thoughts? Thanks!
