Hey I'm new to using prime95. Which tests should I use to check if my overclock is stable?

I always use a blend test overnight.

Last time I ran the blend test, I checked the CPU usage after about an hour. It was hovering at around 14-15%. The large TFT test pins the CPU usage at 99-100%. The blend test tests lots of your memory which might find errors at specific memory addresses.

Select "Torture Test" and use the default "Blend" option. 12 Hours with no errors is considerd stable, but some people do 24 hours.

You should also download memtest86 to test all your mem.

I guess now all i want to know is what kind of steps should i take to solve any errors.
Should I try increasing voltage or loosen the timmings?

I guess i'm just not sure how to interpret the errors.

The error i'm getting is:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

There's no way to know exactly what caused the error. It's just that if you get an error, something caused a calculation to go wrong. Could be CPU, memory, bus speeds, etc.

Basically just change one thing at a time until you pass the test. If you aren't running your memory way out of spec, the cause is most likely to be your CPU. So first try bumping the voltage up a little bit and running it again.

You really should try something other than the blend test. Blend seems to be better at detecting memory/chipset issues. I usually use the custom if testing my whole system or the in place large FFT's if I want to try and isolate the CPU.

Blend just doesn't seem to catch much for me.

Blend doesn't do alot for the CPU, it really tests the RAM. Use the Large FFT test to stress your CPU, do it for at least 12 hours (patience man!). If it doesn't crash, it's stable. Then download memtest86+, and test your memory with that (5 hours at least). If you don't get any errors there either, you're good to go :thumbsup:.

I could be wrong, but in my experience a rounding error means your CPU is unstable, where as an address error (could not obtain information or something) is a memory error. Good luck man.

One other thing about using Prime95, click "advanced" and then "priority" and set this to 10. Next run the Large FFT and maybe the Torture Test. By setting Priority to 10 you will load the system a fair bit more.

There may be a obvious answer to this but why would my athlon 64 3000+ score close to the same on the prime95 benchmark as a celeron 2.2ghz and a p4 2.4ghz. While my 2600+ doesnt come close to any of them. Just wondering, hopefully someone can help.
