PS:
a) How many tasks are you running at once? And how many threads per task did you configure?
b) Navigate to the BOINC data directory (help), from there into the slots/ subdirectories, and have a look at stdout and stderr files, with notepad or any other plaintext viewer. Check if there is anything suspicious logged in these files, or if in doubt, post representative examples of these files here.

This can't be the norm.

The "Edit PrimeGrid preferences" web page shows for SR5:
Recent average CPU time: 17:38:12
Let's say a reasonably modern CPU but with Hyperthreading enabled and with multithreading overhead needed not 17.6 CPU hours, but, let's say, 35 CPU hours. 7-threaded tasks should then complete after 5 hours.

Note, there are three types of tasks:
  • "Verification tasks". These tasks are similar to "wingmen tasks" of other projects, except that they use a clever algorithm which makes these tasks very light weight. They complete after a few minutes.
  • Regular tasks in the very rare case that an actual prime is found. These take up to four times as long as regular tasks which don't find a prime, according to the "Edit PrimeGrid preferences" page.
  • Regular tasks. Here is an example: result ID 1357472901
6-threaded task on Core i7-9700 (8c/8t Coffee Lake desktop CPU, i.e. no Hyperthreading, 3 GHz base clock), took 48,759 seconds CPU time and 8,935 seconds = 2.5 h run time according to the result page on the project server (which is not always reliable in these matters¹). The WU was 5,490 credits worth. Note that this computer runs PPS Sieve on the GPU in parallel, which takes a bit of performance away and may be the reason why the user did not give all 8 cores to the LLR application. That is, this computer probably runs 1 LLR task and 1 Sieve task at a time.

________
¹) I am not in the race myself yet, hence can only look at others' computers on the web for task runtimes.
@Bradtech519 , I have a 12700F with e-cores disabled. Other than that stock, with 3200 ddr4. I am running 15 threads at a time. My shortest first task was 73 minutes, or one hour 15 minutes. The other one about 1 hour 40 minutes. Here:

I'll look into disabling the e-cores. Only other thing I can think of is only using 1 8 pin CPU connector. It's all my new PSU had.

I don't believe it was using my preferences. I went and updated my preferences, and then added the tasks this morning. Might should have waited longer. Now it's down 1hr 20 minutes. With or without the e-cores. earlier it was overloaded on tasks. I just removed primegrid and added it back to get new tasks.

You don't HAVE to disable e-cores, I was just telling you my complete config. Not sure how many threads you should specify with a 25 meg L3 cache.

Each task uses 8MB of L3 cache. So take the L3 cache of the CPU, divide by 3. Take that number and divide by total number of threads. Thats how many threads each task should use. Disabling the E-cores would probably be better.

Your CPU seems to have 8-cores (p-cores) and 16 threads. With 25MB L3 cache you can run 3 at once. So you should run 5 (I'd go down to an even 4) threads per task.

I would say 5 threads per task and it will run 3 tasks. The GPU needs one. That will total 15.

Perhaps we should reach out to Gal, I see he's running Moo right now.

Not sure if I will be able to hold this till the end, so I took a screenshot now.

I don't believe it was using my preferences.
IME, this is what's needed to apply modified threads-per-task settings to tasks:

a) if web preferences are used
  • change settings on the web site
  • request new tasks
I am not aware of a way to apply the changed web settings to previously downloaded tasks, although there may be one.

b) if a local app_config.xml file is used
  • edit app_config.xml
  • let the client re-read the config files
  • suspend task to disk (i.e., don't let suspended tasks stay in memory for this occasion)
  • resume task
That is, the threads-per-task setting of already downloaded tasks can be modified this way.
The last three bullet points can alternatively be performed via client shutdown and restart.

Lane was just posting the close races between team members. His intentions wasn't to leave anyone out. I'm sure he felt someone else would have posted the full stats update.
