psensor does not show cpu temp. Any way to know that in linux ?

I have googled, and about 5 different ways, but NOTHING shows cpu temp. psensor does not see it as a choice. Anybody else with a 5950x ?

It'll be called tdie for the CPU die temperature and tctl for the junction between the die and heatspreader.

On another issue... I re-installed (from scratch) linux 19.2 on my 3950x, and it runs F@H and WCG just fine, like before. But if I try to run primegrid, I get computational error un-ending for GPU+CPU tasks, and it never loads CPU only. Stuck on the loop trying to run the GPU+CPU task.

Did you run sensors-detect as the root/super user and let it find all the sensors?

It appears you need kernel 5.10+ fo 5000 series processors. What kernel are you using?

nightnare of a time running or installing something, its here somewhere where I asked for help. Took hours to get one machine going, and not sure if that even worked. Something about python 3 ?

If you want to use Mint 20 (some things run faster on it because it has a newer version of glibc by default, and some other enhancements that I forget) run this after setup:

sudo apt install python-gobject-2
sudo apt install python-cairo
wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/pygtk/python-gtk2_2.24.0-6_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i python-gtk2_2.24.0-6_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

Fahcontrol should work after that. Really sad that the developer can't be bothered to fix their app that's been broken for close to 2 years now, I think.

Also, I have 15 computers running 19.2, and as of Friday, 4 of them will be 5950x. I am going to keep upgrading as money allows and get rid of the 3900x's and replace them all with 5950x.

I just saw your update. I do that after everything is installed and setup with 20 ?

Your kernel version is 4.15 and you need at least 5.10 or higher for it to show.

Update> one of these two lines (or both) was added after the primegrid computational error, and now it works ! That means I have added a 2080TI and a 3950x to the primegrid contest !

Its in that string above, right ? All I know is its Cinnamon mint 19.2. If I click on the upgrade button, it says I am all up to date. (I update after every install), its the choice below driver upgrades on the welcome screen.

No, you need to run cat /etc/os-release to see what distro and distro version you are running. In most cases you can just upgrade your kernel.

If it's Mint 19.2 then to go to the update manager, on the drop down menu click on view, then linux kernels. The rest should be pretty explanatory.

Just don't delete the current kernel, if you have issues you can always boot into the old kernel to get back on.

In other news, SETI.Germany finished 2nd last year on this same race with GFN-17 low only and their recent output has consistently been the 2nd highest behind us. Will they have enough to surpass the Artic Crunchers and the Czech Team?

Then I reran the redetect, and added the lines as recommended, then checked psensor.... THE SAME

It's not comparable. The 5950x is doing 16 tasks in 47 minutes and you're doing 1 task in 47 minutes.

Im just surprised that one cpu core is outperforming my igpu.

To be fair, this challenge is better for CPUs than GPUs, but running both just gets "bonus" credits.

edit: @crashtech , how do you check the temps on your Ryzen 5000's ?

Psensor shows my 5950X temps just fine, not sure what the difference is other than the newer OS may be allowing it.
