I actually got one? Neat! My profile page on the project site still has a big fat zero....

edit: It's showing now, about 12 hours later. Finally got my very first prime.
I did have one "double-check" from a few years ago, and some APs, but no primes until now.

I'm going to put my 7950x3d on this with core count 2(SMT is on, so its like one core), just to see how it does.

what is a good time for a "Sophie Germain (LLR) v8.10 (mt) " ?? 2C config. I am doing about 630 seconds. Is that good ? about 5700 ppd ??

@Markfw
You would do better just using 1C and setting 50% on you cpus and pinned the tasks to real cores using Process Lasso or AffinityWatcher.
For reference, I'm getting an average of 294 seconds on a '2D' 7950x in windows (4.5 at 1.0V) with cpu pinning.

Linux, so no lasso or anything like that. It should be a little slower, UNLESS the extra cache makes a difference, which for this unit, NO.

You could try turning SMT off in bios and run 16 tasks instead.

I bet it would be faster than what you have now

at 1T (30 tasks) its running now 9:40 or 6100 ppd, so yes, its better, and thats with smt on.

I have the 4090 on that system running, so I don't want to reboot, just testing.

Try 16 tasks total.

Just set your cpus to 50% if you already have the 1T config set.

You should be able to complete 'more tasks per day' than running 30 tasks.

OK, I did that. We will see in 10 minutes.

Then your previous config is more PPD (30 tasks at 9:40 is better than 16 tasks at 6:00)

Seems like running on all threads with SGS isn't as bad I thought. (at least on a 7950x)

I'll run some numbers on mine and see what happens.

Use your previous 30 task config.

I don't normally run SGS, but it seems that it's the one sub-project where the normal methods of optimization can be thrown out the window. (at least on a 7950x)

For a "no SMT config" on Windows:
You would do better just using 1C and setting 50% on you cpus and pinned the tasks to real cores using Process Lasso or AffinityWatcher.
On Linux, CPU affinity binding is not really necessary. Just letting the kernel doing its thing is very close to forced affinity. (For single-threaded tasks, that is. SGS-LLR works best single-threaded.)

I haven't checked what happens with SMT enabled configs. My *guesses*:
– Maybe newest CPU architectures get better throughput from it, if the CPU is not power-limited.
– I presume Joule/task is higher than without using SMT.

Single threaded, my Ryzen 9 5900X is completing SGS tasks in 875 seconds (Windows 10). Congrats on the Prime find! Your cpu has AVX512 , which is a big boost on these tasks.

I have 3 7950x's and a 7950x3d working this challenge. They are down-watted to 142 watts, the same as a 5950x, and they are doing 30 of them at a time in 553 seconds.

Yup, they rock ! Not to mention at the same time putting out 10-29 million ppd each depending on the video card.
