It will probably be awhile before we know if we're 14th or 15th. But that's really what I call a TeAm effort!

Lol. Uhm, sorry about that. I wasn't going for a medal, just wanted to be a TeAm player and do one round of tasks on the big three.
lol. Just messin' with you. You're going to leapfrog the entire team a few positions with your 1 day of output, Tony!

I had fun, even if I was bringing up the rear, I guess. Poor dual-core Haswell without AVX.

We're within 1 WU of BOINC@MIXI! If you, or anyone else, hadn't done all the WUs they did, we'd be in 15th for sure.

If you have overclocked machines, that are capable of using AVX extensions, use extreme caution. I can only run 3 threads (of 12) on Mjolnir before exceeding the CPU's max temp.

I'm grateful my mid-grade motherboard 'only' allows 300 watts to the processor, because I ran for more than a day (previously) before realizing my temps were a touch high.

Overclocking and AVX extensions don't mix well.

Thanks for the heads up.
My rigs are not OC'd.
I do have processors with AVX extensions. I'll keep an eye on the temps.
I recall using PrimeGrid in the past just for OC burn-in; thanks for reminding.

QUESTION:
Any suggestions on PrimeGrid preferences?? I see GPU and CPU options. Right now I am using the default preferences, with just CPU work selected.

Non OC'd AVX has no problems, so you're golden and going to get some great scores once we make sure you're on the right project.

This race is specifically for only one of the CPU tasks. It's the 10th one down on the list, or the 3rd one up, from the subproject dividing line. Feel free to GPU another project (such as Milkyway, hint hint).

Pokey.

I looked at your systems and it seems you are running the wrong project for this race.
This race is running "Sophie Germain Prime Search LLR (SGS)"
You might want to go into your primegrid preferences and change over. Then dump all of the other WU's.Also note that the SGS WU do not like hyperthreading at all, so you might want to limit cores to 50% or turn off ht for the duration of the race.
As far as Gpu's go, this race isnt using any.

...Also note that the SGS WU do not like hyperthreading at all, ...

My AVX capable Xeon's may be an exception to that. WUSS is running non HT at 0:15:13 per task, while BumbleBee is HT enabled, running twice as many task but at less than double the time, only 0:29:22 per task.

Purely curious, but I am wondering if your machines are AVX capable, the ones not running well with HT enabled? I have 2 older workstations without AVX capability that are running closer to 1:30:00 per task, HT enabled. I'd sure like to speed them up.

EDIT: Oh, hey, one of the two was set for non HT and I'd forgot, sure enough, 0:36:20 per task. So yeah, I think I'm about to get a boost out of the other one.

Thanks Tony & waffleironhead,
I have switched pref's to the "correct" project. I'll follow up on the HT idea next chance I get. Hopefully it won't be too late..........

You can tell I am not up on the fine points of the different BOINC projects, so I appreciate the guidance.

Quick update: I am leaving GPUs on MilkyWay. They use, of course, some of my CPUs, so we will see how it goes. I have not changed HT yet.
