Thanks for keeping the stats once again, Ken_g6, we appreciate the effort!

Everyone had some impressive scores this race. Well done guys!

About 2 months to the next PG race!

Yeah, thanks for the stats Ken_G6, and thanks for the great race everybody!

I had fun, although it puzzles me how my Haswell Celeron G1820 2.7Ghz dual-core with 16GB DDR3-1600 dual-channel RAM (probably running at 1333), can even remotely compete with my G4400 Skylake OCed dual-core @ 4.455 (and later in the race, 4.125Ghz), with dual-channel DDR4-2333 CAS17 RAM.

It's got me scratching my head for sure.

Then again, the Haswell G1820 has the "Linux factor" going for it. That might be the difference.

None of my 12 cores (2x xeon 5335 and a q6600) could get anything done in time. Oh well, maybe next time.

Yeah, this race wasn't too kind to Core2-era machines. Even my overclocked SKL dual-cores didn't have an easy time. Only my i3-6100 with AVX/AVX2 really did that much.

Cleanup Day 1 stats:

9_____2692455____BOINC@MIXI (-0, ~0 bad WUs, 0%, ~24 WUs away)
10____2412182____TeAm AnandTech (-0, ~0 bad WUs, 0%, ~0 WUs away)
11____2408993____Team 2ch (-56031, ~5 bad WUs, 2.27%, ~1 WU away)

Well, isn't this interesting? We moved up a rank! But our position is really precarious.

That is strange, as my athlon2 620 from the same era was able to finish WU's in about 5.5 days of crunching. I always thought the AMD chips were a bit slower than the Intel of the same era.

Except, these WUs seemed fairly memory-intensive. Core2's are choked by their FSB, and chipset memory access, whereas AMD Athlon/Phenom II's have their on-die integrated memory controllers.

My Core 2 Quad made 4 Cullens fairly easily. But it has a 133MHz FSB. That might have made the difference.

We got a little more breathing space behind us, as 2ch fell another place.

And now we officially have room to have a bad WU, as Ukraine lost one too.

Bump for the next race! I think it doesn't overlap with the pentathlon.

We officially have about 46 hours to reset, for the pps mega challenge. Well this is going to go well. :\

EDIT: Hmmmm is there an available GPU app stable? either through anonymous plat or stock

Pretty sure that's a no on the GPU app. I think I could dig up a stable app for 321, but that's about it. LLR is hard!

Unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start if I was to begin writing code either openCL or CUDA, being that its my first year in bachelor of Computer Science

The next race is CPU only? Actually I know the answer is yes, it's just that I posted accidentally (pentathlon post) and am trying to hide my mistake.

Ok, uhm, real question then. I have many different profiles in PG, Saturn, Mars, Uranus, etc. If I delete those and just use 'default,' will all machines previously assigned to Saturn for example, now revert to the 'default' profile?

So only WUs downloaded after the race starts count?

Correct

...and finish b4 the end, but they all count even if not validated b4 the end of the race...though they are subject to being validated... if not you lose those points

And the WUs only count if they're for the particular project in any given race. This race is PPS Mega LLR. So go to your PrimeGrid Preferences and select only that project for CPU work.

So is it bad form to abandon the other WUs I have queued? or should I just let nature take its course to download new ones once those finish?

edit: nvm. I actually went and read the race announcement and they said to abort/abandon "old" WUs

Aborting work is not bad form. Letting old work sit forever until it expires is slightly bad form. Especially if you have leftover work at the end of a race.

Anyway, the race is on!
