^^^ Bumpage, since the next race starts in 6 days.
@Tony, I had fun too. I had expected to come in just behind you by one WU. I hadn't noticed that I left one last WU running on my Core 2 quad. I didn't expect it to return in time, but without other work on that machine it just barely made it in on time!
I've got an old Q600 running Windows 10 (32bit) and a dual Xeon (two quads) running Winn 64 doiong about 8500 RAC in Seti I can throw in to this. I can start draining the queues now
4 minutes to go. On my i3-6100 rig (non-overclocked), should I be running two CPU cores (50%), or four CPU cores (100%), for maximum efficiency with PrimeGrid? (I had heard that HT was unhelpful for PrimeGrid.)
I'm running 2 cores on my i3-6100. I tried turning off HT on it once, but the difference was negligible. So I'd say just set 50%.
On older models with HT, turning off HT makes a significant difference. It certainly does on my Sandy Bridge laptop. I don't know where the change happened.
7 out of 8 cores on my twin Xeon 2.6ghz X5355 rig and 3 on 4 on the 3.3 ghz q6600. Gonna watch for the afternoon and maybe go 100% of the processors later. Had another sub project selected from races past but I think I got it fixed.
I can toss in some WU's from the twins, after they finish some other tasks.
Still can't run AVX tasks on Mjolnir. The motherboard seems to overclock some even when I ask it nicely not to, and feeds 300 watts (motherboard's max capacity) to the CPU.
Judging by the times my comps say these tasks will take, I expected perhaps ONE person to have completed a task by now, but wow, 4 people are now ranked, and our very own Ken_g6 is one of them! Well done, Sir! (sorry but you're in 4th now)
Hopefully I'm in the next stats. I think my i3-6100 completed two WUs thus far. My G4400 OCed rigs, are a bit over halfway through a couple pairs of WUs.
Still not sure how Ken's i3-6100 is faster than my i3-6100. *shrug*
(Edit: I'm still on Win7 64-bit. Ken, are you in Linux or Win10?)
Edit: Oh yeah, antonline has i5-6600K for $219.99 shipped on ebay, right now. Contemplating.
Finally have some in. (lets hope they validate and this new ram from dell fixes the issue from last race)
I ran a couple before the race to see times. Only loading 2 cores of four they were 37.5 hours apiece. Loading all four cores caused them to be 52 hours. They are definitly finding some bottleneck.
