I finally brought another pair of 280X online, only 11 hours late. I remember quite clearly now why I spent so much the last 12 months on 1070's and 1080's....just 4 R9-280X's (in two wimpy systems) are pulling about 1100watts. Whew.

7th for the TeAm might be a bit optimistic, this go 'round. We just can't let the Little Ponies defeat us at Folding...

Was just shooting for the stars...........umm.......... err......... Sieves? I'll be down during the day anyway on PG while I make some money for the "man" and make my allowance for the week.

A big howdy to @Howdy2u2, who's done more than half the TeAm's work.

Is this an AMD card? Is your CPU running two threads harder than it was at the start? Your card might be throwing computation errors, which get fixed on the CPU. If you're CPU limited a slight downclock might lead to more speed overall.

If you're power limited, try downclocking the RAM.

Thanks for the tips. So far, no errors. 2/3rds valid & 1/3 are still pending.

stderr_txt all just show start and stop without any restarts.

I'm happy with 2 every 17 minutes. It's faster than 1 every 10.

& thanks for the stats

Thanks, but I'm pretty sure there are quite a few here that would bury me in a points run if they were not pre-occupied with the Folding race. It's all good though it's a TeAm effort on both fronts!!

Edit: I just wish it was the weekend.....Then I would be non-stop to the finish.

Ah, that's why my points are very low because according to free-dc I had 300k worth of points in last 24 hours.

Remember that this race only counts for one sub-project at a time. In this case, PPS Sieve.

Aha! A lot of your WUs were downloaded before the race started. So they don't count in the race.

Oh, really?
I assumed that it had same rules with FB-Sprint.
Grr, newb mistake.
Thanks Ken.

PG does not allow the "infamous" bunkering prior to a challenge. Work downloaded must be on or after the start time and date, then returned before the end time and date. Points are given after being returned without a wing man double checking. (PG challenges are the only ones I know of that do this)

FB the way it is set up with notice prior to the start (and no control over the projects servers) pretty much allows bunkering- basically counting any work previously completed but returned after the start time and before the end time and date. Points are only given when the work has been double checked by a wing man. (if the project requires it)

Double checking is still required. PrimeGrid are showing points in the users and teams stats already before double checking is completed, but this is only tentatively. Stats are being updated the entire time while double checking happens, until everything was checked (which can be many weeks after the challenge "end" time). Points for results which turn out invalid get deducted from the tentative scores.

So there are really two "end" dates for each PrimeGrid challenge: The announced date before results must be reported, and an unknown later date when all results from the challenge were validated. For example, Pierre de Fermat's Birthday Challenge
  • started on November 7 12:00 UTC (i.e. counted only results of the selected subprojects from tasks which were downloaded after Nov 7 12:00),
  • "ended" on November 20 12:00 UTC (i.e. counted only results of the selected subprojects which were reported before Nov 20 12:00),
  • "really ended" on November 28 2017 23:49 UTC when all necessary validations were complete and final results were posted.

Wow, this is a popular race. I'm almost out of the top 400! I think I'll put a little more into it for the last day.

Yes, I was just referring to challenges in general. Meaning that PG was the only place that awards points before the wing man verified the project VS. having to wait on the wing man for points on other challenges. I just left out all the rest of the fluff in the details.....

We're definitely making a move. I'm not sure if we can move any higher, though.

Sadly we are/were only gaining 2 projects every update on the 7th place team. BUT a top 10 looks pretty darn good to me!

We could have done better without the FAH race, but Eight is Enough, I guess.
I can't believe I am in 6th place using just one 7970
I can't believe I didn't manage to pass you either! Though I didn't start trying until yesterday.

Howdy did lion's share of work here. 13th in personal race is no slouch. Well done!

And also well done to all TeAm members. We're in top 8 with just small number of army. But man, this army is full of Tigers.
