The first third is done. Unlike ice hockey, we continue without break from the following scores:
1 ... TeAm AnandTech .......... 25,398,126 / 6,282 WUs
2 ... Sicituradastra. ................ 21,064,030 / 5,210 WUs
3 ... SETI.Germany ................ 18,153,070 / 4,490 WUs
4 ... Czech National Team ... 18,056,038 / 4,466 WUs
5 ... Aggie The Pew ............... 12,557,558 / 3,106 WUs
6 ... Crunching@EVGA .......... 12,129,000 / 3,000 WUs
I checked several times to be sure whether graphics cards can actually be used in this challenge. I found no indication that this isn't the case, even though the statistics do not look like that. For the first time since the Winter Solstice Challenge 2012, Sicituradastra. is not finding itself far in the lead, but even closer to 3rd than to 1st. TAAT pulled all the levers to make this surprising current standing possible, and it doesn't look like intent on yielding this position in the remaining two days.
Hence only 3rd place remains for us at the moment, although we haven't been as close as this for 7 years to the star crunchers, who were GPU-dominant through the last years. However, 3rd place is anything but sure, as CNT has kept it warm for us already for a period this morning. They are now lying in wait for missteps on our part again. Already far in the distance is Aggie The Pew; this time the rats apparently prefer to play with the EVGA crunchers.
It shall be mentioned that the discussion about next year's challenge calendar is getting more concrete. In
this thread everyone can name seven subprojects to be taken into consideration, and may also give suggestions for topics and schedule.
