First thing to check would be whether boinc-client picked up the file at all, and the syntax was alright. For example, edit the application name from "llrSOB" to "llrSOB_helloworld", use boincmgr's "Options/ Read config files", then check in "Tools/ Event Log..." whether it now complains about an unknown application llrSOB_helloworld.Added the config xml but it doesn't seem to take so am on the slow boat.
If yes, you are good. Change the name back to "llrSOB", save, read config files again. From this point on, some of the settings in the file are already applied (notably boinc-client's calculation how many llrSOB tasks can be run in parallel), others will only be applied later when a next llrSOB task will be started.
But you generally want to have that latter kind of settings applied right away too, if only for consistency. For this you could either follow the steps in #64. Or better yet, shut down boinc-client and boincmgr competely (in boincmgr's exit dialogue, check "Stop running tasks when exiting the BOINC Manager"), and then restart client and manager. (If you do the less invasive steps from #64, the display in boincmgr's task tab will be misleading for all previously existing tasks. It's just a cosmetic flaw though.) Or more drastically but not really necessary, reboot the PC.
