There is no way ink can cost this much!!!!!!!!!!!!

"$10,000 per gallon of ink? OPEC, EAT YOUR HEART OUT! -- Currently, HP's Magenta ink for its Photosmart 8200 series sells for $9.99 at most stores along with the required Y, Lc, Lm, B, and C inks at the same price. However, HP only puts 3.5ml in the M cartridge, 4ml in the C, 5.5ml in the Lc and Lm, and 6ml in the Y. Do the math and the Magenta ink is $2.85/ml (compared to $1.15/ml for all colors in Canon's Chromalife #8 ink set and $1/ml for its #6 inks). Ok, HP's inks may produce prints that last longer than Canon's, but there are 3,785 ml in a gallon, making the final price for magenta ink an astronomical $10,788/gal! "

Believe it. Printer ink is the biggest scam I've ever seen. It's also why some people have dozens of printers in their closets It's cheaper to replace than refilll.

i know, it is what we have been doing for years. we buy the $70 HP printers from costco and just buy a whole new one about once or twice a year, ends up a little more (if you looks at costco ink bundles) but you always have a newer better printer.

Is it true the 3rd party ink refill businesses just lost a huge lawsuit and are no longer to sell their (lower priced) alternative products? Its a conspiracy...

throw them out. they aren't worth keeping, and they aren't worth reselling

"HP only puts 3.5ml in the M cartridge"

that could be another argument for you then. also you yourself may not purchase 1 gallon at once or ever in your entire lifetime. but as a whole i am sure HP sells many calls or M a day so we are collectively being screwed

I've known this for years, almost since I began retail computer sales about 10 years ago. The bigger ripoff: Most printers come with starter ink cartridges. Basically a normal cartridge that is only filled 1/3 of the way from the factory. They expect you to run out of ink early, and instead of buying the barely newer model, just to suck it up and buy the incredibly overpriced replacements.

yeah i know about this too and it isn't the case just for printer ink.
a month ago i purchased that Mr Clean ccar cleaning kit, you know the no spot system where you don't wipe to dry your car. It comes with everything you need to start including a small bottle of the soap (nothing stenge here since a small bottle is normal) so i purchased an extra big bottle. I also purchased an extra pack of filters. When i get home i read everything and turns out the filter that comes witht he kit that looks IDENTICAL to the replacement filter is only goot for 3 uses while the replacements are good for 10. bastards.

It's right up there with monster cable, except you don't need to replace monster cables every month.

Yeah, its funny when you go to the store and the printers cost the same as the @#$ ink cartridges!

IT really is a rip off btw, it doesnt actually cost nearly that much to make, its kinds like consoles where they sell them at a loss and then make the real $$$ on the games, alot of times you can by a printer at a loss but you have to by their replacement cartridges so you are boned.

swiftink sales! Their cartridges run me about 2-3 dollars during sales, can't beat it. I'm holding onto my canon ip4000 til it dies, no way will I settle for canon's non 3rd party ink system on the ip4200 series.
