Printer Recommendation

Hello all, I'm looking for a simple, good quality B&W laser printer for sharing between 2 Mac's and 2 PC's. Looking to spend somewhere around $300-$400.

I have a Samsung ML-2150, and I like it, but I cannot seem to get it to share with the Mac's. Apparently I have to buy an extra module or something.

Anyone had a similar situation and want to recommend a good printer?

You might be able to buy an Apple Airport Express and an USB printer and share it with all of your computers (?)

I just got a Brother HL-2040. Works great with my Macs and my PC's. Does Linux also. Similar in basic design to your Samsung. I was told the Samsung works great with osx out of the box. Are you installing the driver? What computer is the Samsung connected to or is on a Printserver?

NOT an Epson or Lexmark. I hated my Lexmark and I hate my Epson.

Dennis Travis, the Samsung is actually hooked to a PC. I have it shared, and the Mac systems find it, but when I try to install the drivers it doesn't work. Then after looking for some more information about it on the internet, and barried deep in the printers manual, I see that you need to purchase an extra module chip or something to make this work.

Or maybe I'm wrong.

Either way I think I'm going to get a new one. I just have to decide which one.

Eighty-something current printer models are in the Apple Store, laser printers with network ability in the <$500 price range are among them.

Stick to network based printers. ICS connected printers are a real pain in the @ss. After I tried my printer, I got frustrated and went and bought an HP 5850. Comes with both 10/100TX ethernet and 802.11b built in. Me happy man
