hey all, i plan to set up a computer room for the family and am looking into getting a laser printer so that dad can hop on the internet and print out pages about cars or whatever.
i've been looking at the hot deal printers (brother 1440 and samsung ml-1710) and they look alright. toner cost is high, but thats how it is for all printers, it seems. refills work, i suppose.
my question is: how much do lasers that do duplex printing and are ethernet ready cost? personally, i just really like duplex printing. i'd like to have this set up so that i don't need a different print server (computer) for it. (i'd like to print from any computer easily.)
i mean, if duplex costs an exorbitant amount, i'm willing to just print and flip, but it IS convenient for me. i am also new to print servers; i've been looking at netgear and linksys print servers and they seem expensive (70-100+). how well do they work? are they easy to set up?
would it just be cheaper and/or better to buy a hot deal printer and a print server?
