What's the largest print you've ever made? What was the resolution of the original file? Were you satisfied with the fine detail at your final DPI?

I really want to print a 30x40 on metal but my file resolution is 3877x5169. This is just a DPI of 129. Will I be disappointed if I print it this big?

Here's the shot I intend to blow up by the way:

What printer are you using?
I have an Epson 3880 but have only done up to 17X22 thus far... Let me do some math -

10 line pairs per mm is the standard print for normal viewing distance (18") of 8x10", and 5 line pairs per mm (127 DPI) is for 16x20" (36" viewing distance).

IMHO, 129 DPI is fine for a 30x40" print if you are viewing it from 3' or greater away.

I've printed on metal 20x30 @ http://www.adoramapix.com/app/home

Kinda expensive, $170 it was at that moment, but I printed when they had 40% off...

I like it, people that seen print liked it...I'll take a photo of a Print on metal hanging on my wall in a daytime and would post on here(prolly tomorrow), how it looks like for you to see...

To upsize photo, you actually have to upsize pixels size vs pixel count. When I upsized photo, I did upsized pixel count: 20x30 = 6000 x 9000 = 54 Mpixels while my camera is 10 Mpixel...But I was told that I would be ok...

Digital image does not have dpi...DPI or PPI needed when printing. To get a good print, you need 300dpi(ppi)

I've printed several photos @ Adoramapix at different sizes on Kodak Pro Metallic Paper...20x24, 11x14, 20x30....Some people who saw my prints told me that I should sell photos...but I'm just an amateur hobbyist...

Yes, 130DPI should be fine for a massive print. People will tend to view it from further back and hence it won't be an issue.

I recommend upsampling it in photoshop to 300DPI, this will make sure that any loss of clarity is perceived as "fuzzy" rather than "jagged".
