if i print them online, where should i get them done (remember, i live in Belgium, so i need prints that can be delivered there)

if i buy a photo printer, which one should i buy?

I've used online places before and they are great. I know Kodak and some other companies have the printers that print the exact same thign you get frmo the photo places but only 4x6. They aren't real cheap either when you figur eout the cost per photo.

Or I'd just take the memory card or CD over to somewhere that has those Kodak walk-up things.

kinda old, but my canon i850 printed photos wonderfully on canon photo paper pro.

er.. any cheaper alternatives on paper? i tried some kodak glossy photo paper at costco but it seemed to bleed abit so it wasnt as clear as canon paper.

office depot paper is a good alternative for canon's. but with that said, cheap inks don't have the same quality as OEM ink, or rather, very few do. Also had a terrible time w/ color matching and non-OEM inks. And for photo's just sitting out, I've had fading problems (OD paper). And that's the only way to get cost competitive to something like dotphoto. I would print my own, it's much more convenient, but these days.. dotphoto or the like seems like a better bet (.14-.19c these days it seems, plus shipping).

I'm talking about just doing glossy 4x6. The nice thing about my own printer.. I can do satin prints

I'm ready to give up actually on printing at home. I can't get my Epson 820 to print correctly anymore, cleaning the head all it does is well waste my ink.

I love the results from my Canon Pixma IP4000. You can't tell the difference from store developed film. When I print out my 4MP images they look great, bright colors, and the inks are all seperate. With some other printers the inks are all bundled as one so if one color is low you have to replace them all.

It's $129 after rebate at Amazon.com. I also bought 100 sheets of Canon 4x6 photo paper for around $20 shipped from there last month.

Yeah but how much does a print cost after you factor in ink and paper?

No clogging....yet. But before I bought it I did a lot of research and read that people have not had problems with clogging as long as they use it around once a week. I would say that I print maybe once every week and a half. Not only pictures but also text.

As for the cost these guys are saying $0.35 per 4x6, but they're factoring $0.28 per sheet of paper. Since I paid about $0.20 per sheet it lowers it to $0.27 per print. And that's with Canon brand paper. I'm sure if I were to get some other generic paper it would come out to be less.

I think my wife used Dotphoto to get her prints. We kind of weighed the costs of ink, paper and time it would take to print out 500 pics (we had a lot of catching up to do) and it just came out cheaper this way.

<-- HP Photosmart 7350.
I use it because I refill all my own cartridges and it does a beautiful job. It's been flawless and I've had it a couple years. I can't believe it still works considering the duty it's done.
Epson is supposed to do a nice job, but the cost of consumables is damnable.
I've never seen what the canons will do.
My next printer will be a wide format HP.
