Got up in late morning, me and my friend put the last of my stuff in my new 64 1/4 mustang, headed out to spend a few weeks driving back from virigina to washington - seeing everything along the way. Other than being depressed over my failed marriage, it was an awesome day.

First full day? The day I got out I went otu with my buddies and drank hard till 2am. Then passed out at the Y to save money. The next morning I decided I was gonna thumb it to Sacramento from San Diego. I got a ride as far as bakersfield and then ended up in a club till closing, then a party till 5 and back thumbing. Half drunk and half sick.

When I finally got home I slept for a week. ( Due to all the drinking yadda yadda I saved no money)

I drove from North Carolina to Nevada, dropped off my car and hopped on a plane and went overseas as a contractor.

Ditto.

And I took great joy in not having to do military creases.
What the hell is that anyway?
Deliberately iron a big fvckin crease all the way up and down your shirt?

DUMB! And ugly too.
I still havent figured out why civilians and military think thats so damn cool.

EDIT: I didnt use that whole "X days and a wake up" thing. I heard everybody on the ship use it, but I got discharged from a very relaxed shore station and it didnt seem to matter much.

Relaxed. Just relished a day without doing pushups. But then found myself WANTING to do them. Then wondered to myself what the fvck was wrong with me, wanting to do pushups.

Then I went drinking.

So, besides the relaxing, it was exactly like still being at boot.

We've gotten rid of the creased uniform. We're actually ordered NOT to iron the ACU's and they have the brown boots. Life is so much damn easier. I'm sure I'll drink a lot whenever I get out though.

only creases I need is in DEU's. When I'm wearing combats, you get in crap for ironing them. and technically you're not supposed to polish the boots, because they're combat boots. But, whatever.

I will never again take a train cross country without a sleeper car!

I will say this - it was very difficult sleeping on a soft bed. I slept on the floor for months. Eventually, I got used to a civilian bed.

Spent my first day out driving from Ft. Lewis, WA to somewhere between Salt Lake City and Cheyenne. I stopped after about 28 hours of driving in Laramie, WY, on my way home to Nashville. Took me 2 1/2 days, and I even stopped to see a friend for a few hours at Ft. Riley, KS.

I didn't have any "...and a wake up." My butt was in the car driving home right seconds after I signed out at the PAC at 12:01am.

Well, I have been wondering what in the hell to do on Saturday, my first official day as a civilian, in 8+ years. I have a batch of limecello brewing (two actually: one with Everclear, one with vodka), and I found some interesting drink recipes using lemoncello. I have this feeling that it should be some kind of momentous occassion, atleast to some degree. But I'm at a loss of something to do. Just more moving and packing really. Oh well. Yeehah.

Drove from Jacksonville, Florida home to Springfield, Virginia. Partied non stop for a couple of days then had the sober realization that there were no more Uncle Sugar paychecks coming in until I started college full time so started looking for a job.
