If some of them don't want to do RC5 ,do you think you could point them to SETI? (as a 2nd choice for you)

Assimilator1,

You always find a way to slip a nice, unobtrusive pitch in for SETI. Kudos. SETI needs more like you.

The ones who said 'no' were either already doing rc5 or seti. Out of ~35 requests so far, I'm still waiting for an outright 'FU, no!'. I am due for one (unless antisocial-Virge's post indicates 'no' as his answer ). I got a few people who will get back to me after upgrades in the near future. A few others already cracking but I am not going through the 2500+ members listed in the dnet stats to find out who is and who isn't. 3 people wanted to join my herd but they are already cracking as individuals for Team Anandtech, so I had to point the 'recruiting restrictions' to them.

However, I am stuck at home. Just one guy assimilating the computers in a small company can produce better numbers than me.

When I'll get 'no's, can someone point me to a site like TA Cube with an 'instant-seti' floppy setup and a page like Paulson's to mention to the heathens?

One of the OT members I contacted just told me that he will try tomorrow to convince the prof in charge of their school's new computer lab to run the TA Cube specific disk on their 30 Celeron 500!!!

Drool! 15GHz added to my herd, to THE BORG and therefore to TA!!! That would be awesome! I'm crossing my fingers on that one.

<sends positive vibrations towards the prof>

One more to add, Russ.

Killbat's P3 450@558 is cracking like a good little Borg right now and he may be able to also use a K6-2 333 later.

BuckMaster will help us with his K6-2 500 and probably one more computer as soon as his basement room is finished.

Thanks to all.

Denis,

They're added. Don't worry about eMailing me, I don't use Outlook.

I've been thinking about cracking for awhile, just never took the time to look at it. I respect Denis enough to join the team, though I do take issue with the ass lamination characterization. If my wife found out that someone "ass laminated" me online, I think there'd be some explaining to do.

At any rate, my two systems are cracking 24/7, and I'll add a third (Celeron 366) in a little while when I finish collecting the parts. Someone can help me along by referring me to a good site with cheap, cheap micro-ATX cases (I remember one that had several under $20, that's what I need -- lost the link with my other hard disk in a partitioning accident).

Glad to help out TA, which has been responsible for saving and making me a great deal of money from Hot Deals and has served as a terrific tech support site for the last 18 months. Besides, I've poured enough money into these systems -- might as well show them off.

There's also the abject horror at the thought of being bested by the Dutch. That's rather embarrassing.

Got this nice message from aRyll. Great contribution to our effort.

"I actually knew a lot about rc5 before I read your message, but never really felt compelled to join until now. Add a 866MHz to your herd (my own personal machine), and when I run back home this weekend, you can add a 1GHz T-Bird as well."

He just informed me that the 866 is a P3. The 1GHz Thunderbird should crack rather nicely too.

According to the speed page, my herd should now be able to do up to ~7800WU/day in a perfect 24/7 world.

Wooooooooooooooo Moooooooooooooooooooo!!! Go TA!!! Go Borgs!!!

Update: And dwell has now become another one of my drones. He has a P2 366 running Linux.

Thanks a lot in the name of Team Anandtech.

Lots more good people left in OT for me to contact. Cheers to all!!!

Go TA!!! Go Borg!!!

Wooooooooooooooooooooooo Mooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

This reminds me of my election-canvassing days for the Liberal Party of Canada during the mid-70s to mid-80s.

Another OT member will try the TA Cube specific dialup client on his Duron 700 @ 1008mhz but he cannot guarantee anything with regard to heat. He has an Alpha PAL and some paste on his cpu. Normal operating temperature is 35C and it goes to 45-50C after some Q3A. Hopefully his machine is cooled enough to withstand rc5.

From what I gather, these Durons and Thunderbirds are quite good crackers.

BTW, most of the machines I've recruited so far are cracking 24/7.

Update:

Demosthenes is now cracking 24/7 on his Celeron 366@500 and his P2 233.
Jonnyguru has started cracking too: soon-to-be-upgraded Athlon 650 and a K6-3 400. He will try to add some at work too.
One more member may join later tonight with an Athlon 800 and a Celeron 633.

Cheers to all those kind folks.
