About this time last year he got a new graphics card, a 3850, and ever since then his computer has been flaky, to say the least. We initially thought it was drivers or heat, but couldn't figure it out and gave up.
But, just yesterday put 2+2 together; this is a Gateway with stock everything except the GPU, there's no way that PSU was made for this sort of thing. The specific model number is "bestec atx 300-300-12eb3 rev s2r" and the case says it has two 12v rails at 18a. Sadly I've been away from hardware for so long that I can't remember if this is close to adequate or not.
Some quick googling seems to show that the PSU probably isn't adequte, but it might be, so what's going on?
