I would call the MS offices in Seattle (or wherever) and complain. If that doesn't work call the Microsoft Investor Relations department.
The kid should get a new XBox or something out of this.

Your an idiot.

He's a kid so he has/had no idea how the RMA process works and probably still doesnt. I couldnt read the letter and stuff (websense blocking) so I've only read everyones replies. So someone at MS made a promise, verbal promises are not legally binding.

There is no proof that anyone stole his cover... as mentioned before, only that pimpled ass kid and a few others would give two shits about those sigs and artwork. Yes, the smudges on the xbox he got back do not look like signatures, because they sent him a different console in order to get him a working xbox360 faster.

Apparently the serial numbers match up... maybe they swapped out covers, thats not unexpected. This is just a life lesson for the kid... but he probabley didnt learn a thing.

I think you kinda missed the whole point. A new xbox doesnt fix a thing... but kudos for a dumbass answer.

Well. this explains a LOT.

I sent in my PS3 for repairs a few weeks back, and got what appeared to be the exact same console back (at least in terms of matching serial numbers). However, some retard either wiped the case down with steel wool or I got a refurb back with transposed serials cause it game back scratched to hell. There were zero scratches when I sent my system in, it was less than a month old... I got a raped system back. Glad the most important thing to me is that it works.

Should have sprayed some clear coat on it. I would never expect that to be returned the way it came. I'm sure it was ruined in handling, and they didn't want to send it back looking terrible so they just erased the rest of it. What a dumbass to send it in like that.

Wow, some shit for brains jackass probably stole the case and scribbled a little on that one with a ballpoint.

lol, that's exactly what it looks like to me...

That's what I was thinking too. They probably swapped the outer shell and kept the good one for themselves.

Hopefully someone from the XBox repair area will turn whoever it was in.

Dumbass kid. They ship it to some factory where it gets manhandled, mixed up with other XBOX units, taken apart, put back together, etc., all by low wage workers. There are no "custom orders" or "special treatment".

If the XBOX was that important, he should have bought a replacement casing and swapped before he shipped it off.

I mean it sucks that he called in and they promised theyd keep his case on it. But, I still wouldn't have taken the risk. That and as others pointed out if he really had no other choice he should have wrote in big ass letters "DO NOT ERASE ANY WRITING/DRAWING" taken pics of that then sent it in and sued M$ if they erased it anyway.

It's not as if the thing had any monetary value... They probably treated it like any other system that was sent to them. It was probably disposed of if it was not salvageable.

You either missed a pill or just truly hate the world though.

Michael Jordan's signature value is what it is because of the fans. Basketball is more widely talked about. However there are MANY obscure autographs worth tons because of the value they hold to those that collect them.

You need to learn to think outside the pasture.

Oh come on. It's $350 comsumer electronics device. It's being sent into a completely automated refurb facility along with a couple thousand other devices that day/week and going through a completely routine replacement process.

The facility isn't designed (or interested) in accomidating special requests.

Well then the agent of the said company should not have made any promises.

Please read coherently next time. KTHXBYE.

He was assured his console would get repaired and they would ship the same console back to him.

They sent him his Xbox 360 back. The front serial number and the back serial number match up exactly

Sounds like they did keep their promise.

Well, it does say not to put too much ink on it or it might overheat...

Perhaps he can get the artists and signers to do it again. He has photos for reference. Maybe it can be recreated?

Someone at MS realized this kid is a dork who plays video games way too much and figured he'd do the whole country a favor by removing those sigs and ruining this kids xbox, hoping that would get the kid out of his parents basement and outside to play for once.

Wouldn't that take microsoft to bankrupt if everyone found out?

What kind of a loser would steal an xbox case that is autographed by a bunch of nerds?
