Hi,

I hope you guys can help me overclock my CPU to at least 2.4 or 2.6. I treid overclocking a few weeks ago with little sucess, actually I did overclock but it was not prime stable at all and the votls were pretty high too around 1.65. It was stable at 2.4 with 1.6 four around 5 hours then it failed and the temp were all below 55 C. Here is the CPU -z report with everything at stock and of course I used the memory divider and X4 or X3 even X1 HT to keep it below 1000, Also i did not touch the memory voltage and the kept the timings at 3 3 3 8.

PLease help.

here the report.

One thing i find strange is that my CPU voltage in CPU-Z is 1.5 at stock is this normal for this CPU.

My Venice defaults to 1.4v and the DFI board even undervolts it to about 1.385v.

I don't think your VCore should be that high default, unless someone wants to correct me on that.

in my oc expmeriments I was only getting success only when I had my volts to 1.6 or 1.65 that would mean if it was actually running at 1.40 (but the BIOS was reporting the wrong volt i.e 1.5 when it should mean 1.4) then I was actually @ 1.5 or 1.55 which is perfectly normal for oc according some of the other threads. But I am scared of putting it that high without being sure, also my temps were also all below 50.

At stock I get 36 idle and 43 under extereme load, BTW I live in a desert region but have a AC and fan so thats not a big problem.

my 3500+ b4 l threw it away wouldnt stop overheating, one of the not so special chips in my eyes from AMD, l had to mod the original bloody fan for standard running here in northish queensland oz, the fx55 however.....
I would check your heat situation on the cpu.

Well at 1.65v, theres no possible way it would stay at 43C MAX on the stock cooler, so it seems like the 1.4/1.5 v is correct. (It would be more like 60C, even in a cold room)

EDIT: oh yes, I completely forgot, my venice 3500+ with a XP-90 and an asus a8n-sli has basically a max vcore of 1.58 no matter what I set it to in the bios. Just another fact reassuring that 1.65 really is 1.5v is entirely possible.

Hi mdzapeer, I've also just got my A8N-SLI Deluxe up and running with a 3500 venice. Currently I'm just using an AI overclock to 2.4. It's for a client so I'm probably not going to push it much further, but I did find a nice article at AMD Zone on overclocking the 3500 venice. It might be of help for you voltage settings and the like:

Athlon 64 3500+ Venice Core Overclocking Review

Good luck.
