Just installed a new seagate 80 gig into my nieces computer. The bios reconizes it as 80 gig.Used max blast to transfer everything from the 15 gig to the new seagate. It gets to the hp screen the says no operating system found. Is that Hp stuff stopping it?Jumpers are set right.
TIA,Allenv

Not sure that MaxBlast made an accurate clone. I have 6 ea. 80 GB drives in 2 computers - and only one of them is active. I clone them about every 2 weeks using Acronis TrueImage 8.0, and never have a problem.

Once in a while I get a message like that, but it is only because my connection was not solid to the new drive.

Hi, You don't say what operating system you are using so this will be for Win98SE. Should be about the same for others. I have several versions of MaxBlast and have cloned many drives with no proplems. On one occasion, for unknown reason, MaxBlast did not move the "Operating System". This does not refer to the whole of Windows, just the files necessary for booting. If you have a startup disk for the Windows you are using, boot from the startup disk and type from the A:> prompt "sys c:" and enter. That will load the necessary files. Hope this helps. Luck, Jim

EDIT: True, newer Maxblasts only work on Maxtor drives. Older ones, up to about version 1.01 and maybe later, work on all drives. If I remember correctly the time that Maxblast did not move the OS files was when the new drive was setup as slave for the cloning. Slaves don't normally have to boot so the files are not necessary. My original suggestion still stands. More Luck, Jim

Hi again, I'm not real sure what OS this was, but think it was XP. May be same on yours. Make a dummy file by the name of the missing file. Doesn't have to have any data in it just a CR. Install will be happy with it.
Luck, Jim

HP I do believe has a small partition for recoverying loss of systems but I would try the Seagate utilities and nothing was mentioned if the 15 gig HD was a Maxtor, cause Maxblast needs @ least 1 of their HD's for it to work...

So you deleted all the partitions which were FAT32 then reformatted with FAT32 and the Seagate being PATA is set to Master with the 2K booting up off of the CD?

The fix was even after reformatting again it would still stop just before loading the desktop.I did notice that I could get to safe mode at which time I discovered 2 video adapters one built in intel the other was the ati radeon 7000 that the monitor wa hooked up to and the oem modem that an exclamation next to it.Removed Radeon and modem went back to onboard video and computer booted all the way up.Then I disabled onboard video, shut down installed Radeon, restarted windows found the radeon I installed the drivers and got her a new modem. It runs great but man dial up is soooooo slow it's only conecting at 45k.Hard drive after formatting is 74+ gig.
A Very Big Thank You to All,it was much needed and appreciated,Allenv
