Are the lights on the router lit up for receiving data? Also make sure that you dont have to clone a MAC address into the router and also make sure that your computer is acquiring an IP. Use the steps below to request and IP.

Start ---> Run ---> ipconfig /release ---> Press enter.

Then do:

Start ---> Run ---> ipconfig /renew ---> Press enter.

Let me know if that helps at all.

Did you typed the ID, and Password to the Router's PPPOE Menu?
Did you check the Internet Broweser to make sure that it is using the LAN, and not a Dialup socket.

MAC address clone: go to the router's default IP address in a web browser, with Linksys it's 192.168.1.1. Login, default for linksys is no username and password is "admin" Click on advanced, then on Mac Clone Address. Enter the appropriate mac address, save settings.

good idea for some networks, but in case CtK doensn't understand MAC addresses, here is a more thorough explanation.

On your xp box click Start, Run and enter cmd for the command prompt. Type ipconfig /all, this will show you all the information on your computers nic, there you can get you MAC address, this is what you want to use, if you make something up it will not work in most situations, had to help a few people here with the same problem, Internet Texoma uses this method, and it is slowly becoming more common than pppoe. If you've confirmed your ISP uses pppoe, then MAC cloning isn't necessary but doesn't hurt one way or another, try resetting your router to defaults, and re-entering you information, sometimes these cheap routers don't save quite right and confuses the he!! out of people.(acutally happened to me the first time I set up dsl for a cust.)

when u change, or clone the mac addy, remember to turn off u're modem at the plug and turn it back on , so it kinda refreshes and reconnects to the internet. i set up my router yesterday, and luckily my isp mak it very easy, as i could just register my routers MAC addy online on my account, then unplug and re plug my modem and it reconised it perfectly, then all mahines were just plug and play, it was so easy
