So I can't stand how slow this netbook is with windows 7 starter. It's just brutal. I was thinking if I put XP on it it might work better, not to mention I much prefer XP over 7 anyways. I've found lots of guides online on how to create a booting USB thumb drive to install XP from. I've created the drive and it seems to be fine. When I try to do the install it starts the install but shortly after I get a blue screen with some error codes. It almost seems like it is trying to install the operating system to the USB drive instead of the HDD. It's all automated so I don't have the choice to chose which drive to format and install the OS to. Is there a way to turn off the unattended install that the setup of the usb drive all seem to have?
The one thing I did notice was that the online guides note that you have to changed the "OS installation" to "start". My BIOS does not have this option. I read a few places that said it had something to do with setting the USB to 1.1 or something. It's really frustrating.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
