Well, I ran into some problems and finally just had to reinstall windows. I have 2 drives. One for operating system and other for storage. So, I thought I had everything setup and working properly, but I left my card reader and second hard drive connected throughout the installation. After realizing I cannot change the driver letters of the system partition on the second drive I reinstalled windows with everything except the primary OS drive disconnected. Everything gets setup properly, until I turn the computer off to connect the secondary drive, wth 3 partitions. Well after the "press any key to boot" mesage I get this error "<windows root>\system32\hal.dll". I thought I needed to repair the windows installation, but if I unplug the hard drive it boots up just fine. When I go into repair the Windows installation, it shows one of my partitions as the c: drive and the OS is installed on the D: drive (OS). When I unplug the second HD the OS shows installed on C:Windows.
I don't want to lose any of my data on the second drive, so what can I do to resolve this issue?
