UPDATE:
Finally figured out them problem by searching google. Turns out the Benq DW1620 Burner has earlier firmware that is incompatible with the Nforce IDE driver. So you have to unplug the burner, uninstall the IDE driver, plug in the burner, update the firmware, then reinstall the Nforce IDE driver. Bleh, thanks for the help everyone

I had this weird problem where sometimes my system would boot up fine, but other times it would hang during windows startup.

This problem would happen off and on so I never thought much of it. But it eventually started annoying me, so I tried to troubleshoot it. I noticed that when I unplug my new dvd burner (I upgraded a 4x to a 16x, and thats when this problem started), it would bootup fine.

Could this really be a power supply problem? I ask because I have an Antec Truepower 380 and I thought it could handle this system just fine.

Can someone tell me if this system would really strain a truepower 380?

That Antec should be running your system just fine. I'm using a Truepower 430 in my system and everything is ok. That is really strange.

Check the jumpers on that DVD burner first. Make sure you don't have two devices trying to be master or slave at once.

I had run a 2.8GHz p4 + 1 gig RDram + 2 harddrive + 6800GT + 2 DVD/CD-RW + Audigy with
a 3-year 330w enermax PSU that came with an enermax case..
so 380w is plenty for you.
