Doesn't matter. Insurance covers a car, not a person.

It DOES matter. Some insurance policies will cover the vehicle regardless of the driver. Some only cover specific drivers while using the vehicle, and other drivers are not covered at all.

I see.

You firmly, and repeatedly feel that the police are needed to impose some sort of basic order in a person's family disputes, because simply KEEPING THE FUCKING KEYS away from your little brother is beyond the capacity of your average ADULT, in your opinion?

Sad, that.

What PLANET OF THE FAIL do you live on, anyway?

Big brother, nanny state government and armed intervention for you all the way then, is it?

Are we talking a history of bitter, angry personal fail on your part with your family here, or what . . .

Because Six, I refuse to lump you in with the white trash and the "oppressed and personally lame underclass" who turn to the police to settle their family disputes and their local emergency ward as their unpaid personal physician unless you personally confirm it.

Dude, chill out. Every one of your last three posts is nearly verbatim the same words. I've already explained my view of the difference between a "family dispute" and a safety issue for the general public. If you don't agree, fine, but if you want to go in circles, you'll have to do it without me.

Ok people not even cool. His story is his story and mine is well mine.

I do all maintenance to "his" cars. I invest my own money. But yet can't drive the damn things.

I also asked today to use the car Friday.... Nah can't use it. The 3 day rule must take an extra day for the paper work to go through.

Also, every time and I mean every time something gos wrong with the vehicles. I FIX THEM.

I put more gas in the cars when I take them. I change the oil when need be.

I don't ask to use the vehicles for one main reason. He gets an attitude.

Thats my input. I am not arguing with anyone. I just felt like the other side of the story should be told.

Well, insurance is a very juciy detail you left out. And it'd be wise to start being more legal, perhaps it'd give your bro more rest.

If you don't like the attitude or the current arrangement, buy your own car.

Time for you to get your own car to 'invest' your time and money. It's disrespectful to take someone's car without permission, repeatedly, and drive it without insurance.

Yeah right,

Who paid for the tires, insurance, taxes, plates? Using the car for personal use I will more likely decline you. If you was to get a job, work everyday, then I might see it being a problem for you not to use it for personal use.

I side with travis because he's trying to do the right thing, balancing being a nice guy with trying to look out for his brother's well being. However, he should make sure he has all the leverage he can get. That means at the very least that he should refuse to allow his brother to do any repairs.

I think this is typical of dilemmas that parents have with their teenagers. The teens will grab ahold of whatever justification they can find, so you have to take away as much of that foundation as possible, without unduly infringing on individual rights. There is also the question of fairness and impartiality. One problem with giving the keys to the sister is that it can result in grudges and resentment, unless she has the keys only for safekeeping and isn't using the car herself.

How many cars do you have?
Having to ask three days ahead of time to use your car when you aren't even in town makes no sense.

call the cops make sure you tell them you believe he is armed and violent because you found out about his cocaine and terrorism activities.

Ask if they can have the bomb squad show up because you think the car is now wired with explosives.

That should solve the problem pretty quickly.

This.

I have asked him time and time again to return the keys and he has, pissed off but did.
When I mean return the keys, I mean my mom holds them, so he is taking them w/o even asking her. I know its bad to leave it to someone else, but I am not home to hold them.

They invented these things called pockets. You can place items in these "pockets" and that way, the items will always be with you.

But seriously, WTF is wrong with you. Grow a pair and keep the keys with you at all times.

That's because one of them probably chose their name based off of the other.

The safety issue for the general public can and would be avoided completely if he would take his keys with him and enforce rules for his own property. Why should the cops be involved? That makes no sense. If a child keeps getting into the cookie jar, you don't call the cops, you just impose more strict rules and move the cookie jar out of reach...
