Hi! This is my first topic on this site.

I`ve been using for almost two weeks now an Viewsonic vx2255 on a pc with a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2.
Starting with the first boot, it worked in "Digital", with the DVI connection.
Yesterday, after using a game (Assassin's Creed) the resolution in windows was lowered (first time that happened). I didn`t mind that and restarted.

After restart the monitor is black, it doens`t recognise the digital signal. I`ve tried another DVI cable, same result. After finding an old VGA cable, and using an VGA-DVI adapter I managed to start the monitor in "Analog" mode.

Anyone has any idea why this happens ? I think that the monitor has some problems, but is there a change that the graphic card malfunctions ? I need to know that before contacting my vendor.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Intermittant, yet common problem. Try unplugging all cables to monitor including power cable. Plug DVI and power back in a try rebooting. It may or may not happen again. I've seen it with three different LCD's and cards..

are you using the correct monitor driver?

if you have 2 dvi ports try the 2nd port.

might need a better dvi cable too.

the monitor worked fine for the week with the same monitor cable and the same dvi port.

since THAT reboot it doesn`t work with any DVI cable and I`ve tried both my DVI ports.

another thing: the monitor doesn`t light even at Boot. so it isn`t a Windows related problem.

Hmm, I figured it was nV driver related, as many people have experienced issue where they had DVI signal until windows loads. Mine was solved each time by unplugging power to monitor. Sounds like you have something else happening. Green light on card? VGA cable works? DVI won't power monitor on even at bios?

Yea with green light on card and nothing from DVI even at bios, sounds like something went wrong with monitor DVI input, especially considering the sudden resolution lowering on the reboot then nothing. Second opinions?

I've own two Viewsonics before and they've all had the same issue you are describing. Viewsonic has a problem with its DVI for some reason. Both of my monitors fixed themselves after a restart and video card port switch.

You probably will have to return yours.

one more question......... since all this DVI problem and the use of the VGA cable I started experimenting some problems that I don`t remember having when I used DVI.

to put it simply : flickering of text (it depens on it`s size and colour) and sometimes in images that contain violent contrast at a detailed level (when selecting an object in Arhicad, which creates a green spots on black background or when aplying a noise filter in photoshop, also.. small points on a background)
