wyvrn, once you took the survey of your property lines and realized the fence was on their side, why did you continue your efforts? It was their issue and you had documented evidence (survey) and proof (fence) that the fence was on their property line. Why bother!?

Love the paint job... needs some brighter colors though... like pink and orange...

Just make sure you paint, stain the both sides or the boards will warp!

Is that legal? In my town, somebody painted their house black with purple polka dots. Took about a year, but the city forced them to repaint it something more normal. There is a law here about having a "normal and acceptable" looking house.

Good for you. My brother had a fence on HIS side of the yard and his neighbors dog kept getting through it to escape from their yard. His neighbors kept threating him and crying because he wouldn't fix his own fence. He told them to build their own fucking fence. They were so dumb they could never understand why he didn't want to put a lot of money in HIS fence because they had a dog. Some people just need to be taught the hard way.

I think the old fence had already been taken down and the new poles set before the survey was done, and before the neighbors started acting up.

hide the metal posts with plants or something, they really don't fit with wood fences.

Well it finally stopped raining, and I had a chance to put up the fence today. It was hot as hell but we got most of it done in the morning. A friend helped out.

After we got the fence panels up, we loaded all the old wood onto their side of the yard. It was their fence and on their property, so I figured that was fair. I asked my friend to use sealer on my side of the fence. I think it came out pretty good:

This should last awhile, and only require some touch up reapplication of sealer every year.

While he was doing that, I started painting their side  You know, I didn't realize how much fun that was going to be.

While I was painting, their daughter and son-in-law came over. She said her mom (the older lady) was in tears. I said why?, I am just painting my fence. Her husband asked why I was painting the fence in this way, and I said to keep the wood from rotting!

He then called me a lovely human. I told him I liked bright colors and I thought this was very nice. After all, these were the remnants of paint from some of my other projects, some of them rooms in our home. So they couldn't be that bad.

He told me not to trespass, which was funny. I laughed. I was standing on a stool painting with an extended roller brush. I wasn't touching their property. He asked me if I would paint my side of the fence, and I said I might if I had paint left. Alas, I ran out right at the end :Q

The daughter said 'you win' and I said I wasn't out to win anything. I was simply building a fence on my property. I think they are beginning to figure out that every time they yell, threaten, or bully me, it just makes me more motivated.

In any case, my friend decided to leave because of the commotion. But we had a good laugh first. I came back and finished up after dropping him off. And so for those of you who wanted pics, I present to you my creation which I dub champagne supernova!

I wish I had more colors, but at least I got to get rid of some old paint in the process! Enjoy!

you put the boards of the fense all on one side?

isnt it suppose to be interlaced? PIC

Honestly, I think you were a dick for painting their side of the fence. What do you gain out of painting that? The satisfaction of making two old people unhappy every day they look out their window? Just because they treat you badly doesn't mean you should do the same. You've now destroyed a relationship with a neighbor completely unnecessarily. If you had simply reconstructed the fence on your property, that would have been one thing, but I just can't believe you'd be a big enough douche to paint it ugly colors on theirs. Really childish.

Bah... they asked for it. If it bugs the neighbors THAT much, they can build their own damn fence to hide it on their property.

That said, you neighbors might be able to get you back on "public eyesore" charges or something similar.

I have seen multiple homes painted like shit after the owners have issues with local government or neighbors. No HOA so they can do what they please. Its an easy way to make a point.

The fence is a piece of god damn art. I love that you made the old lady cry. you bastard

An angry neighbor is really capable of anything. Perhaps when you are out of town they'll broadcast it to the right people, or something happens to a pet. The temporary pleasure of pissing them off is not worth the rather huge long-term risks imo.
