Problem with a neighbor

It's simple, really...... these folks (the old people) are in the early stages of some form of dementia (Alzheimers, etc.); one of the major early symptoms is a dramatic personality change, and it sounds like this is happening big-time......... and the way the kids are acting, simple....... denial........ they are in denial that the problem lies in their parents, and are instead siding with them and misdirecting anger to you........... the same thing happened with my grandma..... she was losing her mind, and none of my uncles or my dad wanted to believe it, so they were blaming the problems I was having with her on me (I lived with her and took care of her)......... She is now in assisted living, as her mind was really bad and she couldn't be left alone AT ALL............ but in the early stages, she just wasn't "herself", i.e. she never swore, but she started to, etc.

Wow, I can't believe this thread was resurrected.

I wanted to help, them, as explained earlier. They have been good and gracious neighbors. I had respect for them and was more than willing to help. So I kept continuing to try and make the situation work until it was obvious they would never be satisfied. I knew that if I continued to work with them, they would find issues with it as long as they lived in the house. It would be a living hell.

I have plans already to repaint the fence a quality, earth-toned color. I have the paint already. I am really just waiting for a cooler weekend which I should get in a week or two. I need to put two good coats on it before winter, and also touch up my side. I think my point has solidly been made, and I can lay the issue to rest. They probably will not thank me for painting it solid, but at least they aren't harassing me anymore.

Thanks everyone for the support. I appreciate it. Those of you that think I was a jerk may need to go through a situation like this to understand my point of view. I had all kinds of emotional distress and so did my family. If you had actually gone through that, your opinion may be different

personally, i wouldn't bother to repaint it in earthtones, but i suppose you want to keep the relationship civil, if nothing else, eh?

That was an awesome story wyvrn. I have a yard obsessed crazy lady neighbor, too. The first time I mowed my lawn I went into her yard by 6" and she flipped. She was ragging on me right at my own door. :shocked:

My wife heard about this and chewed her ass and she hasn't said a word to us since.
