How is your SATA cable, and did you install the firmware update to correct problems with dropping queued commands? However I doubt the firmware is at fault.
3 SATA cable connected to the mother, been 3 years no problems.
I was thinking of reseating the cable at both ends.3 SATA cable connected to the mother, been 3 years no problems.
Started a month ago and now freezing freezing tip more. Firmware updates have been about two years ago.
I substitute a new cable and the same problem does not change.
Current Pending Sector = ACTIVE VISIBLE bad sectors that CANNOT BE READ but are still visible to the operating system.
So you have a few sectors that cannot be read. Use a disk utility to check and mark bad sectors. You system probably freezes when trying to read them.Writing to this sector will solve the problem; if there was physical damage it will be realloacted by a reserve sector and the Reallocated Sector Count raw value will increase.
Taken from another forum:

[PS] if that counter increases any further, backup your data.
