I sold an used 5Tb hard drive a month ago, and after some use, the buyer came to me a week ago with the disk, saying it was not visible on his PC and the HEalth/Perfomance data were 0. I tested the disk in a dock and found that I could read and write the disk, but indeed, the HEalth/PErfomance displayed by Disk Sentinel, in my PC, is ?. We blamed hi PSU and he went to get a new one. And then calls me again that he cant see the disk in his PC, and in some other PCs, with different SATA cables. Any idea about what can be happening here?

What model disk is it? What does the SMART say when connected to a direct SATA connection? Make sure it is initialized GPT. Also, what OS is this in?

I think it is a Western Digital. It is partitiones as GPT, a single partition, and I guess the buyer is using Windows 10. Havent tried a direct SATA connection because the only desktop PC I have here is totally full of disks and in a position so complicated that I hate to pull it out to open the case, but I think I can do the effort and see what happens.

What's the drive's SMART data say? Could just be cradle death. Some drives just do that. Warranty swap, done, no big fuss.
SMART section in HArd Disk Sentinel is empty. The disk had some use time here without problems, I sold it and a month later the problems started. According to the customer, his PC and several others cant read it properly, and report thousands of bad sectors. Im doing a low lever format right now and after a 11% no bad sector reported yet.

Edit: at 16% I got an error. Now the disk is unreadable and I get timeout errors if I start the low level format again. Cant be initialized as GPT, Windows disk manager says the device is inexistent.

RMA it I guess then. You could also try some other tools to check the SMART, but it sounds like it has a bunch of issues anyway.
