Problem with Intellimouse in Counter Strike!

I have the five button Intellimouse (NOT Explorer). I believe its version2 (said 33% faster than the original when i bought it a year and a half ago).

lately when ever i play CS and end up doing a really quick turn (moving the mouse left to right or right to left), the screen doesnt turn at all. Infact say if i am turning left, the screen would start to turn left then as if it hit an invisible wall it will bounce back to the right and many times end up facing a bit to the right instead of left which way i was really trying to turn! ofcourse all of this takes no more than a millisecond.

Anyone else had this problem? more improtantly does anyone have a solution?

PS. keep in mind that this happens only when movement is really sudden and extreme. In a given session of CS (say 1 hour) it prolly happens once or twice! But i can cause the error to happen as many time as i want (ie it happens everytime i pull a quick move)

Sounds like it could be a couple of things, but here are my best bets....I use the same mouse on CS

1. The mousing surface is dirty, or shiny...causes the laser to not respond properly
2. You say its only with sudden movements....could in your excitement you lift the mouse off the table? It doesnt respond well even if barely off the surface.
3. It is infact a defective mouse...my brothers died...I believe you can send them back to microsoft for a replacement.

1. I am pretty sure its not the surface cause i have tried several services.
2. This definately is not it as i can recreate the 'skip' when ever i want.
3. This might be it but i dont know if that replacement policy applied to mice bought in US but being used in Canada

Ok, let me just state my experience with this same problem. When I first got my Optical mouse (over two years), I had this same problem in CS, and HL (or pretty much every FPS game I played). It's a sudden movement, right or left, your mouse will not move, it's almost like it wants to move but it doesn't.

It was alleged back then that it was a problem with Win98SE, and WinME. Due to the fact this problem mainly persisted in both of these OS, in fact it was stated so often that people running Win2k never experienced this problem. That forced me to upgrade to Win2k. After upgrading to Win2k the problem quickly went away.

Another thing to consider is your mouse pad, it?s no secret that you should use a dark mouse with any optical mouse, preferable a black pad. I use a black Everglide.

PS: My current mouse is the 33% faster optical mouse.

I am prolly gonna be upgrading to whichever is the best gaming OS (XP?) come November (buying new HDD, CPU and Mobo) but untill then i guess i am stuck

My mouse is used over my table with out any mouse pad. Its service is darlk wooden color type.
