Problem with internet sharing

i'm using a cable internet connection and have 2 network cards in my computer, one for the cable modem and one for home networking

the internet works fine on my computer (server) and my computer and the client computer can communicate with each other properly ie. share files etc.

but i can't get the net running on the client computer going through my computer

i've tried windows 98 se ICS and netproxy

i am connected to my isp through DHCP

plz help!

Make sure you have TCP/IP protocol installed on both computers and Bound to the network cards in both of them. For the best result your server and client machines should have the same list of protocols and binding. Then you can install Win98SE ICS and make sure share the network card that connects to the cable modem. Once Win98SE produces the floppy disk you can use it to setup client machine.

Another problem you might have: If your 2 computer net was running before the cable modem was installed, note that the NIC added for the cable modem will have a different IP/subnet. That means you will have to change the IP addresses of the other NICs (one in the server, one in the client) to be on the same subnet. Do not change the IP for the cable NIC!

Do you have the small network icon in the task bar? If you right click,
option> be sure Enable Internet connection sharing is enabled. I just went through this last night, turned out it wasn't enabled by default.
once checked and rebooted both PCs all is fine.
